...actually Neal gave me the music to OOHW to work on for a Soul SirkUS tune, I have to be blunt, it never did anything for me. I tried to make something of it & nothing stuck to the ceiling. I was surprised at at how god it turned out when Journey tweaked at it but in all honesty, it still doesn't do much for me, sorry. Who knows though, re-addressing it live & me putting my spin on it could be interesting, who knows....I wish we would do Good Morning Girl sometime, that song does it for me big time, so much passion & emotion in the melody & chord changes.

And I don't think the title was idiotic. Based on the performance that was posted by the original poster it wasn't cutting it.
Maybe the original poster (as others) hadn't heard a good version of the tune. If that was an Augeri performance, the topic would be 20 pages of people saying "hang him". JSS posted a GREAT performance that put the issue to rest and proved that it really should be there and that he can cut it.

I think it is great when there is interaction between band members & fans on the forums - so what? It helps to get answers straight from the horse's mouth rather than spin things.

Actually, if you look at his response again, he did say he never read the thread in whole. Maybe that's the problem here! Reading it out of context! Maybe he didn't know we were capable of a cordial thread between the fans and JSS so he was just assuming it had gone mental

I noticed you were very silent/anti-social prior to your gigs in Florida. I'm still wondering which of the 5 of you watched the Westminster Dog Show after the Clearwater show? That's got to be one of the strangest things a fan asked of you at a M&G... Makes me want to use a 3-letter word or two!!!

Jeff, I honestly don't know much about the technicalities of music & singing, but since you are in that position, I'm curious...Is Journey music the most challenging out there to sing? Or what other bands music is challenging, past & present? I would think Queen, but does Journey top that?thanks...

I'd be curious to know too, Queen or Journey? Listening to the Queen cd right now (like the powerful vocals on the Queen stuff and his solo band just kicks ass.) JMO, I would think, some of the early Journey (really high/calling small animals to the stage door (SP) type songs) would be harder than the Queen songs.

I always thought Freddie had a great voice, and will forever be a legend. That said, Perry was always on a different level. To this day, when I listen to old Journey tracks, I am still in awe at the notes Perry hit. It simply wasn't normal for any human being to hit those notes. I think that is why everything "Journey" will always be compared to Perry. He was, and always will be the benchmark. Having said that, I have a boot of the Reno show, and I think Jeff sounded spot on, with his vocals, on EVERY track! Before listening to the Reno show (And let's not forget that these are boots, so not exactly superb quality), I didn't realize Jeff had quite that much power in his voice!

That was actually problem when I 1st went out to join the tour, I was using too much of my normal technique which was belt it for all it's worth, forgetting the range & even emotion of Perry's style didn't match that. He was a powerful singer himself but in a different way, his voice was smooth & silky but it projected. I was pushing it the way I would normally hit the notes on my stuff but it sounded too hard or aggressive, at times making it difficult to hit the range on some things. I simply pulled it back a bit to get the natural highs as well as texture my voice helping keep true to the original sound as much as possible without cloning it. I was so hugely influenced by Perry growing up but knew that would be a dead end in having my own identity, As well, it didn't fit the format of albums I'd done through my formative years, so I strayed from that silky, smoothness & opted for a more power tenor as I started my professional career. Now it's all about revisiting it all so my voice works for me AND the audience. Thanks for the props!
