Somehow I never quite understood a snowstorm, during winter, ever being a news story. Unless the snow is falling in Florida, it's not much of a story! As someone who grew up 8 miles north of Boston, and has suffered through MANY, BRUTAL winters...I say blizzards are simply part of winter

Are you nuts? I live near Dallas, and we've had several instances of snow falling, not to mention sleet and freezing rain, all in this single winter.

Yea, I bet. Not so much here, we usually get a few weeks of spring and then HOT!

I'm excited to get to leave my 80 degree weather to go up to NW Pa to see snow and go snow tubing with my husband and kids next week! Does that make me warped? I think you want what you don't have really :) My kids have NEVER seen snow and they are finally at an age where they will remember so we're taking the plunge!

If it was just for one week, I'd take some snow down here! I grew up in it, so I'm smart enough to know I don't want it all the time. My kids are in for a reality check. They think they know cold. They are going to freeze their butts off! Of course I'd pick the UK over Florida right now too! Enjoy yourself!!!!!! Keep us posted!

Nah, that's not my house Tree, we rarely get that much snow out west. But it is a pic of a house in Canada, out east I think.

That's why you don't understand it. Winter in Boston and winter in the plains are two TOTALLY different things. You have condensed cities and trees. This is open country out here. They close interstates for hundreds of miles because you can't SEE anything when it's snowing and wind is blowing 50 miles an hour. Total whiteouts, you see NOTHING in front of you. If you get disorientated and lost out here, they don't find you for days. I've seen snow drifts ten feet high out here in this kind of weather. Winter sucks.

According to what I heard from my mom this afternoon that's about how it is in the Omaha area today Angie. I - 29 closed from the Missouri line to the SD line and I - 80 both east and west of Omaha. It was snowing 2" an hour for about 3 - 5 hours with 30 to 50 mph winds. Bad stuff.

Yep, everything is closing down here. Schools started closing yesterday afternoon and are closed through Monday, they closed I-90 from Sioux Falls to central MN. Our mall closed...when THAT happens, the whole town shuts down! lol! In my next lifetime, I'm going to pick a career with snow days. I'll have to be here bright and early at 8:30 tomorrow morning!

Same here, I 80 is closed from Dexter Ia Marker 100 in west central Iowa all the way past Omaha... National Guard has been called in to help already--Des Moines has recveived hardly nothing so far...
