LOL...yeah, I remember those chat's fondly. Quite a few 'interesting' women that frequented those chats...

A Long long time ago-

Monker ruled the Boards for so long...He was like a T Rex, roaming at will, destroying everyone in his path....until that day, when I joined...I was like a baby gorilla. I had the foul mouth, the sharp tongue, but I had the fucking passion, and I believed in what I said. I liked pounding my boobs when I thought I scored points. I pounded them too much, and a lot of the time, when I wasn't right, I would pound them anyway. Soon, I grew into a Pissed off giant Ape, and suddenly I was in Monkers head. Dude couldn't do anything to me. I called him out on his bullshit theories and such, and finally when she came after me, I grabbed her jaws and pulled them apart...hence Monker was injured. To this day, I don't know if Monker is nursing his injuries and plotting an attack on me, or has risen the white flag for the last time.

At least that's what I like to think happened. As all this was taking place, there were gnats and flies buzzing around...They were ever so damned pesky. I grew to know their names....PROPERRY, HOTS and PerryFaithful...Not bad people at all, they just had a one way thinking behaviour, and I must have dislocated my elbows at least 5 times swatting them around. Andrew, sitting high atop this surreal scene, strings lowered down and attached onto all the characters wouldn't let me use a giant can of Raid...It would have been easier to extinguish the insects. However, AJM is a fair man. He allowed the evolution of the scene to play out, naturally. So we fast foreward to 2003. A couple of tame, yet loyal creatures bumped around in the form of Red13JoePa and NealisGod, however, there was a pissed off beast by the name of The_Noble_Cause (TNC). He and I brawled a few times(I have brawled with everyone here more than once), but one day, we sat around and shot the shit, and determined that we agreed on things more times than not, and we were allies by sunset. As all life on Planet MR lived on, fighting, eating, and shitting and pissing on each other, some disturbing news was coming out of the Journey camp. I and my new friend, with help from above, determined this singer guy wasn't really singing. Enter in some new characters, AR, Stuart, Jeremy, and DCVader. They all got involved and and soon, we had a Island clearing brawl on our hands. After 4 months, the dust had cleared, and we heard through the Jungle News service, that this singer guy was history. Soon, I invited AR, NIG, 13, DC and Stu over for a party. We bonded that night. However, this singer guy was exiled to a planet far far away. He did have some leftover freedom fighters still on his diminishing side and they thought it a good idea to try and destroy all the Monsters. Well, that was a futile attempt, to say the least. They came in droves, throwing softballs left and right, and we hit those puss throwers right back in their collective fat pieholes. They fleed MR island faster than you see a BT er run back to the all you can eat buffet at Sizzler.

So we are in 2007. Events of the past have settled down. Peace accords have been offered and some have even been accepted. There is a calm that is around us here. We have decided NOT to attack anyone. We have agreed that our puppetmaster likes this new political stance and we have all accepted it as the best plan. However, like HOTS said earlier, please don't awaken the sleeping giant. It didn't work then and it won't work now or in the future.

Oh, good question Cyndy. Let me give that some thought. :? Maybe we should start a thread casting the drama that's unfolded in the last year.

Some would say there's much drama throughout Journey's full history.. Wouldn't make a great documentary movie if it were ever to happen?

I can pick out someone for u Sherrie. But others like Deano, TNC, Niggy...they would be hard to cast.

The Garden of Eden can't be found on a map. It's not a geographical location. It's right where you are - if you're in the spirit.

I think Matthew Perry would be great for delivering your one liners, but he doesn't exactly fit in appearance.

This board isn't as scary now as it used to be. I think the more people we get here the friendlier it gets. More different points of view mean there's a better chance of having someone who agrees with you.

A lot of the old preconceived notions and stereotyping have been put to rest because we've all gotten to know each other better too.

Yo

Postby jrnyfan@nc.rr.com » Wed Mar 07, 2007 7:31 am

My first posting here on MR, after lurking for several months - but I wanted to weigh in. I go back to 1994 with Journey on the internet. The mailing list was awesome and really provided the "real news" at the time. I remember Lora posting updates when Perry would cancel shows on the FTLOSM tour. There was plenty of bickering back then, not a lot has changed. Steven Lake's site really became "the place to be." I do recall a crusade to get the newsgroup started alt.music.journey or something? After this big battle to get it started, like - no one posted on there. There were weekly chats in Deep Groove on AOL, though I never really took part in them personally. I think they were Wednesday nights maybe? I do remember Neal and Jon doing "AOL chats" for solo albums back in 94 - 95ish. That was a great time in the early days, though. Not everyone was smart enough to have access and it was small group of people really - and most of them were pretty smart and considerate online. This was also the time period where it really wasn't cool to like Journey and the band sure wasn't in the public eye at all - so it was nice to have a place to talk about the band.
