JSS B-sides?

Postby *Laura » Sun Feb 18, 2007 12:02 am

Was visiting JSS's Forum and noticed a post about a double CD (from 2006 :?:) put up for sale on a Brazilian site (an E-Bay kinda site).
I looked it up...

http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-53395249-_JM

The songlist is really cool and the artwork is great, but I don't think it's a legal release.

MÚSICAS: CD 1- Set me free ( unreleased track from ¨Panther¨ 1986), Act of sympathy (unreleased from Gary Schutt ¨Sentimental¨ -1994), Highway to nowhere (idem), Mental ward (idem), Hush (from ¨Smoke on the water - a Tribute to Deep Purple , 1994 ), Arms of love (from ¨Hollywood Underground¨ - 1996), Always B mine ( Japan bonus track from TAKARA ¨Blind in paradise¨ 1998), Dance the night away ( idem), So this is love (from ¨Hot for remixes - A tribute to Van Halen ¨ 1999), So this is love ( from ¨Little guitars - Tribute to Van Halen ¨ 2000), Shot in the dark (from ¨Bat head soup - a Tribute to OZZY¨, 2000), Cryin´(from ¨Let the tribute do the talkin´ - a Tribute to Aerosmith ), Desert island ( from Tribute to Jason Becker - 2002 ), Love dominion ( Japan bonus track from HUMANIMAL ¨Humanimal¨ 2002 ), Us and them (from Tribute to Pink Floyd¨ , 2002 ), The story of love ( Duet with Ken Tamplin - ¨Wake the nations¨ , 2003 ), Time ( Japan bonus track from Talisman ¨Cats and dogs¨ , 2003), Prisoner (Duet with Bob Harris - from ¨Edge of forever¨ , 2003 )

CD 2 - What you gonna do (Duet with Chris Catena - from ¨Freak out¨, 2003 ), In the final hour (from Laudamus ¨Lost in vain¨ , 2003 ), All wound up (Unreleased track from Melodic Rock Compilation Vol. 1 - 2003 ), Problem child ( taken from ¨We salute you - Tribute to AC/DC¨, 2004), Aces high ( from ¨Numbers from the beast - Allstar tribute to Iron Maiden¨ , 2004), Love is like oxygen ( from ¨Tribute to Sweet ¨, 2004), Doctor doctor ( from MSG ¨Heavy hitters¨, 2004), Turned the page ( Japan bonus track, 2004), Save me ( from unreleased JSS ¨Queen¨ EP ), Bohemian rhapsody (from unreleased JSS ¨Queen¨ EP ), Show must go on (idem), I want it all ( idem ), Somebody to love ( idem ), Save me ( Acoustic ) (from ¨Tie your mother down - Tribute to Queen¨ ), Edge of the blade (from ¨Tribute to Journey ¨), Under fire (from Alex Masi, ¨Attack of the neon shark¨, 1989 ).

Anyone knows about this, anyone has it?

Jeff, did you buy this one?

If you like covers he has a covers cd that's a double and its fab. Has Journey, Queen, Creedence Clearwater..., Ozzy, Europe, etc. But different from that one and is proper as was sold at his gigs in 2005.
He also did a Queen on the damned cd last time on tour in the UK, its pretty cool too.
Also he's got Queen convention cd and dvd and absolutely fab. I thought no one could beat either George Michael or Gary Cherone on the tribute but wow, if you haven't got this, then do so.
His covers of Europe's Scream of ANger is one of my faves. One of my fave Europe tracks and its so good.

PS I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it is a proper cd.

andrew stated on the front page a little more about it ... not an officail release.. :o

"BEWARE OF JSS BOOTLEG:
Just a little FYI - There is a new Jeff Scott Soto bootleg doing the rounds called B-Sides. It is a 2CD set of Jeff's various b-sides and tribute album appearances. What causes me to mention this here is that the artwork for the bootleg is quite professional and credits the release to Frontiers Records, including their logo and all.
Do not fall for this being an official release or even a promo only release - it is nothing of the sort!"

That sucks. :( Because I'd totally buy this.

Actually, I'll probably buy it anyway. :\

Does anyone actually have the supposed silver CD's they're selling of this on ebay? I have mp3's I got from a torrent site, but I'd love to have this stuff in CD quality, especially the fucking Japanese bonus tracks they use to screw the rest of the world with. However, there's also a large chance the silver CD's were sourced from mp3's to begin with so it might not make a difference.

Thats one of Europes best songs ever. And to be honest with you, I dont see it as much of a cover song, cause 1.Marcel is the one who wrote the song originaly anyways and 2. Jeff takes that song to another level. Its a very meaningful and "angry" song, that I would love to see Journey perform someday!!!

Just be aware that this CD is 100% illigitimate and a completely fabricated bootleg. Nothing to do with JSS or Frontiers Records.

So what you are saying is that JSS had no input on this ? If that is the case should I stop copying it. I don't want to cause any problems. I bought this off ebay about 2 months ago.

His various songs, packaged up by some guy with a computer....artwork done in similar fashion and then hocked on EBay for a too expensive price tag.

No, Jeff and his label have nothing to do with this!

Hey, we can talk about anything here, but if all the material is available from Jeff's store on his site, (and I haven't looked at the track listing) go get it their the right way.

Pay the man directly.

I hate ebay shills that sell that kind of stuff. Fuck, if there is anything on that release that isn't on a real CD and unavailable, Jeff would probably "yousendit" and GIVE it to you.

Love live boots, but am not a fan of legitimate material being pirated. There is a big difference IMO.

Because the songs compiled belong to about 15 different labels! Anyone who has had any dealings with this hair-brained industry knows that dealing with 1 label to get a license is hard....15???? Forget it.

I know. I just find it hard to give those assholes my money when I know there's a $35 japanese version of any album I want to buy that has extra tracks. I know it's happened for years, but it doesn't make me want to run right out and buy a bunch of CD's.

If the source on this bootleg is real CD quality audio and not mp3's (which I'm assuming it is), it'd be worth the price, bootleg or not. I'm not paying another $30 just to get the one "Lost In The Translation" bonus track.

You'd think with the industry in such dire straits they'd be a lot more accommodating to fans, but apparently not.
