No doesn´t sound dated to me ....you have to be in the mood for it  His voice on Northwinds is so warm

The shopowner gave me a hardtime about the camera ....because the guarantee was untill 23th of Februari
So I called Canon and explained it to them ........ They were very nice and told me that will fix the camera for nothing :D
Tomorrow going to send my camera to Canon!

Sorry to hear about your camera, SnakeLady. They are not supposed to break down after only a year. At least at Canon they realise that as well. Would have been nicer if the shopkeeper had realised it too.

Could do with a bit of '1987' gloss?

Gloss??? For Northwinds?? Nah, I think it does sound dated, but sometimes dated is really nice. Until Whitesnake was John Kalodnered they had been sounding kind of old fashioned anyway, what I've always liked about them. Still, I am very grateful for songs like Still Of The Night and Sailing Ships.

You know that's funny - our camera broke down while we were on holidays  and it was out of warranty.

We decided to send it off to Canon anyway and weigh up the repair costs against buying a new one - we didn't hear anything for a few weeks apart from 'We've received your camera' - next thing you know the camera comes back repaired with a little note saying something about as per the statement on our website we have repaired your camera at no cost!! :D

Good to win one occasionally. It was a fault with the shutter on ours. But good effort from Canon!

I found a desk tape two days ago of a band i was once in called Prophet in my younger days (1992-1993) and we absolutely butchered Sailing Ships (along with many other Whitesnake,VH and Queen songs)

Our setlist

Poundcake (VH)
Run Don't Walk (original)
Hammer to Fall (Queen)
Saints and Sinners (WS)
5150 (VH)
Andromeda (Original)
Stormbringer (DP)
Runaround (VH)
Sailing Ships (WS)
Children of the Sea (Sabbath)
Panama (VH)

musically we were okay...vocally it was beyond bad...lesson....don't try and cover the likes of Coverdale, Dio and Mercury if you have a range of less than an half octave.

Butchering VH crap isn't necessarily a bad thing these days. :P

At the same time I'd pay to see a decent band belt out that set list in a pub somewhere....
We actually recently lost our favourite pub in Hedland - a trucking company bought it to house their workers!!

Note for overseas friends: Accommodation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is very short because of the resources boom!

Yeah you have to stay in the house, unless Emergency Services knocks on your door to evacuate, which happened to a fair few people around our area....

There's nowhere to go anyway, as the roads were all closed as was the airport.

It's gonna be a busy year for concerts this year.

Doro's gonna be in New Hampshire this June. My bro and I are pretty much set to go even if we have to use our looks to buy concert tickets.

I may end up having to Skip the Leaves' Eyes gig in August. It falls on the same week as the grand reopening of the grocery store I work at (they're in a remodeling stage at this moment.) They're denying all requests for time off for that week. :(

Genesis announced their US tour dates, and it looks like Hartford, CT on Sept. 16th is gonna be the best bet...but will the ticket prices be reasonable? They've got a few sports stadiums on their bill...are there really that many die-hard fans leftover after a 10 year absence?

And also pending when Within Temptation finally announces their US tour dates...that will be a must-go.

Usually one good gig a year is about all I can enjoy...so as you can see, it's gonna be fun this year.

Kenny, I'm also glad to see you made it through the cyclone intact! Didn't even know about ol' George. :?

General question for everyone around the world...
Here in the U.S. we've started Daylight Saving Time a month earlier now (and it will last a week longer too). I notice my posts here are being annotated an hour earlier than what we're now observing. What about time changes in other parts on this Earth? I suppose I could "use the google" (as our leader has said) to find out, but this is more personable. :)

We'll start DST at the end of the month. I wouldn't mind it to start right away, I prefer longer light in the evening over an early sunrise... That I never get up early would have something to do with that as well I suppose! In summer it's easier to wake up early, because then it gets light at 4.30/5.00 anyway. Without DST it would be even earlier... Or am I mixing things up? Perhaps I should go and see what the google says...
