I could do without all the over-the-top guitar gymnastics on it, but I think Jeff's vocals are better than the original.

Are you joking??? Back in the day, Steve Walsh's voice was every bit Perry's equal. I'm pretty sure that even Jeff would admit that, even though he did a great job on the song, that his vocals aren't better on that song than Walsh's.

Here is a cover of one of my favorite songs written by Nanci Griffith and sung by Emmylou Harris and Dave Matthews (I personally love the version she does with Willie Nelson)... Anyway, when one of those old, beautiful Perry music videos appear on the forum I feel the same kind of melancholy about them that I get from this song... There isn't an emoticon with tears all over its face and a wad of kleenex in its hand, is there?

Anyway, here it is if you want to take a listen,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_5GlFlmIug

I think that is why I love Jeff Buckley's version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah so much; here it is if you want to hear it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xbY4WzcF_U

To me, these are some really beautiful, moving songs... :)

Thanks Fredinator, I forgot to post links to the songs... doh

here's the studio version of Buckley's Hallelujah :

so beautiful

(his name's Jeff Scott Buckley, btw....
kind of interesting ...)

Have you ever heard PJ Harvey's "Memphis?" a beautiful, haunting song she wrote/sings about Buckley. (I'll try to find a link)

Ace Frehley's version of New York Groove and every song that Shaw/Blades cover on the Influence cd. They turn Simon and Garfunkel' I am a Rock into something modern.

Talisman has done better cover songs than Crazy.
Their version of "Frozen"(Madonna) blows the original away.
Also Talisman's cover version of "Ice Cream Man" and "Tie Your Mother Down" are another 2 that are as good or better than the originals (IMO) .

Man, I wish more live Talisman was floating around out there...

I ordered Talisman Truth + Live At The Sweden Rock Festival. I wanted to order more, but couldn't swing it this time around, and also didn't want to order too much since this was my first time ordering from there. I can't wait! I know I shouldn't be expecting anything yet (only been 2 days) but I get excited, 'cause the more Talisman I hear, the better I think they are, you know?

The only news I can think of is if they finally can schedule their final tour, but I wonder if they can pull it off since its been moved twice already. Plus I doubt it they will have time to plan a gig (all members being busy with other projects). Maybe the news is that Talisman will be opening for Journey next year and Jeff has to pull 4 hour nights every night! Bye Bye GREYGOOSE! ;)

On Jeff's site JeffScottSoto.com there is a "mailing list" on the right hand side of the screen that you can click on and be added to, for any updates.
