This is SO sad. Boston was the very first concert I ever saw and it was amazing.

While only a casual fan of the band, I do feel sad for those who he loved who now will grieve for him.

RIP

In honor of Brad Delp, I am hosting a tribute on The Annex and posting some rarities as a remembrance.

Here is "San Francisco Bay" which later became "Hitch a Ride"

"We've just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll." -Quote from the surviving
members of Boston, http://www.bandboston.com

Brad Delp will be forever remembered for his unique one of a kind vocalist
sounds. He had an octave range that measured 6-8. Basically that means all
levels. I can list the songs, I've heard them into knowing them by name
instantly, well over 25 years after their initial release. "Boston", "Don't
Look Back" & "3rd Stage" are their most noteable releases.

Brad Delp also left Boston for a number of years and along the way, found
himself for the band RTZ with the hit single "Face The Music", again, his
voice the sole reason why Bostons' music was successful, I personally
thought he'd have been great for Queen after Freddie Mercury's demise.

Sad day in rock and roll indeed.

No other news can take the glumness away for tonight.

May not be the time for this, but hell this will be FAR from the stupidest post in this thread so....
Where do they go from here? Is Cosmo still with the band and if so can he handle all the lead singing duties?

I just heard about this. I am so bummed...

RIP Brad Delp...Here are some fitting words from my favorite Boston track and one of my favorite tunes of all time...

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time

I saw them on their summer '04 tour and Cosmo handled all of the really high notes. In fact, Delp introduced him as the guy who hits all the notes he couldn't hit anymore. They were supposed to tour this summer with REO Speedwagon but who knows now. I don't think they've ever toured without him. I believe he even toured with them on the "Walk On" tour, even though he didn't sing any lead vocals on that album, correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember that. I thought to myself they make a great TEAM.

Something some people in a certain fan base should take to heart when a note or two isn't hit to their satisfaction.

Our favorite bands are not getting any younger - treasure every opportunity you have to see any of them.

What a lot of people don't know is that most of that debut Boston album was basically recorded in Tom Scholz's basement. While their record label thought the band was in California recording it, Tom stayed behind and worked on the album pretty much by himself and created a masterpiece. The guy is a musical genius. Too bad he only puts out a new album about once every eight years now.

Brad Delp - RIP
Category: Music

My heart is saddened....nothing worse than coming into a hotel after a great gig, tired & ready to close my eyes for the day just to receive an email that one of my boyhood singer idols was pronounced dead.

Mr. Brad Delp, 55, who's voice changed the face of AOR FM rock in the 70's with the powerhouse band Boston has passed away & I feel such a deep sadness for him. His voice & music still play regularly, even moreso now the next weeks, on my iPod & computer.

My condolences to his family & all of his fans alike, I too share his passing with great sorrow....may his presence continue to influence future generations of singers who want to be like the real deal!! RIP Sir, Don't Look Back!!!
