Now he's doing the trilogy Dixie, Hush, Glory Glory. Damn! I'm not an Elvis fan, but he had something there.

I can't say I spend much time listening to Elvis, but....He was THE MAN! This world has never seen anything like him and never will again! Unlike Michael Jackson declaring himself the "King of Pop", Elvis allowed others to talk about how great he was. The thing that always fascinated me about Elvis is that 20 years after his death (10 years ago), some of his personal letters were released. He told the person who was in possession of said letters (I don't recall who it was) that they could release the material 20 years after he was gone (which in itself is a bit bizarre). Elvis said at the time that nobody would even remember who he was, 20 years after he was gone. The guy seems to transcend generations, and I'm convinced that my grandchildren's grandchildren will still know who Elvis was. The fact that this guy actually believed people wouldn't remember who he was has always been astonishing to me!

I wish JD Sumner, the original bass singer from the Stamps was still alive to do that show 20 year ann. show. Strickland was an ok bass, but he did not have the girth. JD sang a double low C. It was good to see the classic Imperials again. If you watch the "He Touched Me" DVD, you can hear the difference in production and quality of the singers. The originals were MUCH beefier. I liked it though.

Elvis represents the human condition. We all have something that we would like to do, which is the right thing, but find ourselves not able or willing to do it. Elvis chased the faith that his mother had. He never experienced the freaky Pentacostal stuff himself, so he kept searching. I hope that he found it. He had to many bible believing Christians around him that were trying to help. JD being the one with the most influence.

I spent part of last night with a friend of a friend whose favourite band of all time was Boston. I found myself in the unique position of being the one who told him Brad died. It was a real moment. I am surprised at how much it shook me up, considering I wasn't much of a Boston fan personally, but I KNOW what music means to me and I really felt this guy's pain when I told him. He looked lost.

Later that night, I was hanging out with my mom telling her the story, and she said, "Oh you probably don't remember, but Aunt Pauline and I WEPT BUCKETS when Elvis died. It was like we'd lost our best friend."

I'm a huge Elvis fan, in some weird alternate universe. What started out as a hallowe'en costume turned into a bit of a cottage industry for me -- I'm an Elvis impersonator for parties and stuff, and I know what you mean. His voice, his magic is amazing. I got to go to Graceland this year and I adored it!!!

That's cool Monty! I went to Graceland last year too, those cars were crazy weren't they? and how about the home furnishings! I loved his playroom and all the shag carpet, would have loved to gone upstairs but they won't let visitors. The guy was a free bird, no doubt about that. I applaud his wife and daughter for making a fortune out of the very little money he left behind, they turned it around big time.

I didn't think this was a Willie Nelson song (and yes, I know he released his version of the song in 1982). Elvis' version was actually released 10 years earlier in 1972. It turns out that the song was originally recorded by Brenda Lee (of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree fame) a year earlier in 1971. I definitely prefer the Elvis version of that song!

Didn't know that John. Just know that that the W.N. version is the most known. I think Elvis hits it out of the park.

He was and will always be the King of rock and roll there is no other to take his place.I got to see him in concert in Vegas & close to home he was great and everyone went wild.I have also been to Graceland and loved it.I love knowing there are others that will never stop loving him.

Elvis was a true vocalist, his range , even at the end was incredible for a baritone.
And NO ONE loved there fans more.
