Do Journey "Raise their game" for the UK (Europe)

I have the feeling that Journey really get off on the unique enthusiasm that the UK crowds throw up. Its in a different league to what they have been used to over the past decade or so.

Just watch how JSS wears the England shirt... or the Union Jack... or St George Cross .....fackin magic!!

I really do think they take it to the next level over here.... and that we are getting what is truly, the "best of Journey" .... hope you "Uncle Sam's" are dead jealous...after all...youve had em, for the past 30 years....lol

Yes, when they're not using tapes I would imagine that the energy of the crowds gets them jacked up. And from what I've heard, the crowds are MUCH louder than those in the U.S. Like you said, we've become spoiled seeing them year after year. So to you, and those in Europe, I say....ENJOY!!!

English entertainment confuses me,, some events , such as soccer, everyone is drunk and kicking each other,, IN THE STANDS! then at some other events they are breaking for tea.. what do they have at the snack bars at rock conerts in England? we have beer and nachos, but no tea.. macca , no doubt , you got the best this version of the band has ever sounded!!!! im flipping over these new boots! i dug the new duds the guys were wearing on stage,, but when they took off the jackets, its back to the black cut off sleeves on neal,, half unbuttoned , little belly going on!

But at the smaller halls - which are more like theatres [Nottingham Royal Centre for example] there are bars dotted about which sell snacks like peanuts, potato chips etc, or candy in the main foyers etc. But as it is in the theatre district there are many restaurants and bars/pubs close by outside it.

The soccer crowds are a race all of their own. The hooligan types anyway. A lot of them drink beer for hours in pubs before the game. I suspect some of the worst of them have it intravenously fed to them 24 hours a day!

But we're not all hooligans, I assure you.

Dunno about that, but on the circuit I work in, other Acts often leave a urine filled glass behind the dressing room door so that when you come to do your gig the next night and enter the room, you knock the glass over when you open the door and you have to put up with the beautiful aroma all night.

Not very pleasant I can tell you.

It's the glamour that keeps me going!

I think it all goes way back to class war over here - average people are a lot more politicised over here than in the US? You may think thats a tenuous link but its possibly why the audiences are more 'on it' and vocal over here. As has been said, football (soccer) fans are a law unto themselves, much as the government likes to think violence is gone, is all still there and kicks off every week, but they tend to kick the shit out of each other rather than passers by. Apart from in the early 90s when football violence dryed up because everyone was dropping Ecstacy on a friday night and were all peaceful and loved up come saturday afternoon - I kid you not. Manchester was like a love fest. I think thats why audiences originally threw bottles of piss - when they really thought a band sucked, they let them know, and what better way?
