Penguins sign deal to stay in Pittsburgh.

Thank fucking God. Kansas City deserves nothing.

Glad to hear that. as much as I would have liked the Red Wings moving to the East - it's good they are staying.

I have a question----My home base was the Pittsburgh area-----and I am going to show--my low knowledge base here on sports---but I re call De Bartlo owned a share of that Hockey team-----does anyone know---if he still does?

I detest Pitt teams and fans but it is a terrific sports town with tons of tradition.
How the Pens could've even CONSIDERED to be moving fodder is beyond me they're a classic NHL franchise.

Dean's right, there IS justice.

Nope. Mario Lemieux and a group of investors own the Pens, though Mario is commonly referred to as the owner. I can't remember how long DeBartolo's been out of the loop, though.

So true. I hated the way they kept circling around throwing out offers as the Penguins and Pittsburgh were in heavy negotiations. Like bloodthirsty sharks. Really pissed me off.

I live in KC and was glad this didn't work out. It would have been the death of the team. The NHL won't sell well here in KC. The city has never been able to support any form of hockey and this would have failed as well.
I could see an NBA team, maybe but hockey just isn't happening here. Glad the Pens are staying where they belong. I love the logo tho!

Really? because I'm pretty sure it's Kansas City, MO. that was trying for the team, which would mean that your tax dollars were safe already. It's MINE you should worry about since I actually live in the state that the team would play in. Kansas City hasn't had a good baseball team in ages, they should have moved years ago, or at least gotten new owners. I have the same feeling now as I had when this first started, it was all about leverage and geting more money out of Pittsburgh. Owning a private business and getting tax dollars is the American way these days.
Without ego, we have no pride in what we are saying.

I think that is the general consensus. I have yet to run into someone here who said..."Ya know...we really should look at getting a NHL team".

It's football, basketball, baseball(choke) or NASCAR that are the really draw here. I was surprised they tried Arena Football but the team seems to be off to a decent start this season.

NHL...not so much.
