For anyone to be ticked off about this is ridiculous. We don't know what demons haunted him, nor will we ever know what he wrote in those letters. Maybe he told his kids and fiancee in the letters he left behind why he felt he had to do it. All the bitching and being angry at Brad for what happened won't bring him back. Let's just remember the voice he had and the music he made.

RIP Brad.

Agree. Just in our eyes it seemed like he had too much to live for. Watched a youtube video of him from a week or 2 ago and he appeared to be happy. At least with Kurt Cobain you could tell how miserable he was. I guess Brad was much better at faking it.

Sting,

I will say this. Brad wasn't in the limelight as much as Cobain was. So really, you can't compare them both.

I agree Sal, sorry Larry. The thing is, people with normal thinking don't do things like that. That being said, I'll bet a whole fucking paycheck that BD was on some kind of anitdepressant or other mood altering drug. People that take their own lives, are, at least at the time, insane. Be it from a constant pounding of life abuse, or a drug induced insanity, no sane person takes their own life. You can not be mad at someone that isn't in control of their mental faculties. If you question the people he was closest to, I would be that same paycheck, that he was on some kind of medication. I'm not against people taking antidepressants, but they do not act on everyone the same way. On rare occasions, they can make a depressed person worse. So please don't trash a man that couldn't help himself.

You really can't and shouldn't compare suicide; although suicide is the classic "Fuck You" salute to all they leave behind. Have no pity nor I remorse for my faith and course I bade you farewell and goodbye; with mine hands I die.

Listen friends, I have something to tell you. I have been fighting depression for years now, but only been officially diagnosed about two years ago. I take medication to help it, but still have have my up and down days. You might think by my postings that I am basically a happy person, and I try to keep upbeat thoughts for me, but I will tell you that there are days that I am so depressed, all I want to do is sleep, or just stay in my apartment for days on end, not really talking to anyone. Thank heaven I do have a few friends here who will check up on me.

Depression affects people differently, as do medications affect people differently. Let's just remember Brad and his contributions he made to music.

I don't believe Fran or Tom are getting along but this could change things. Last time harping on the suicide thing - I think as fans most of us feel we are owed an explantion but we are not family nor close friends so we may never really know the truth. As much as we would like some closure from this we never will. We can keep his memory alive thought the music and supporting Tom if he does decide to carry on.

Sting,

I will disagree with that we are owed an explanation. No, we are not owed any explanation. That is between Brad, his finacee, and his family, period. I will have my own closure to this, and I don't think I am owed any type of explanation. It is a personal thing for Brad, and I respect that, even tho the circumstances is/was shocking.

I was reading on another forum where some of the members were calling Brad a coward for ending his life, and saying that it was the ultimate act of selfishness. That is completely absurd. Anyone who thinks that way has never been affected by depression. Depression is not the disease of cowards. It does not use any type of logic to choose whom it will attack anymore than cancer does. It happens to some of the best people you will ever know, and it is powerful enough to turn even the strongest soul into a limp bowl of jello.

I went through a depression after I had lost several loved ones in a traumatic event. Like ClassicRockLady said she experienced, I didn't even want to get out of bed on most days. I started drinking heavily and taking pain pills that were prescribed for a shoulder injury trying to numb the pain. I never contemplated suicide, but I cannot judge someone else for doing so. Brad Delp was probably hurting much worse than I ever was. Fortunately I stopped drinking over a year ago and got off the pain pills. Shortly thereafter, the depression went away and has not returned. I am one of the lucky ones.

RIP Brad. You rocked man. I will still listen to your songs and have just as much respect and admiration for you as I ever did.

Scholz is suing Cosmo's ass in the courts later this year (i believe). Cosmo was NEVER the right man for Boston. The ONLY singer that was right for Boston was Brad.
Most of Bostons fans NEVER took to Cosmo, they always wanted Brad.
When Boston released the 'Walk On' album in the 90's it BOMBED, and the main reason it bombed was the BRAD wasn't on the thing. Scholz was even told by the promotors and record label ''No Brad, No tour''. Good album as it was it never sold as it would've done had Brad been on it. Ok it was the 90's and that kinda stuff wasnt the IN thing, but the other factor that was missing was the vocals of a certain Brad Delp. Scholz knew this, thats why he got Brad back in as soon as he possibly could for the tour.
I have many, many boots of Brad singing certain songs from the Walk On release, and trust me they are fucking incredible compared to the Cosmo versions.
As a huge fan of the band Boston, i sincerely hope and pray that Scholz wraps it all up now. There IS NO Boston without Brad Delp. He (Scholz) knows this and so do the fans of this great band. There is no way in a gazzilllion years Boston should continue without Bradley Delp. They tried it once and it sucked, just wasn't right, and Scholz damned well knows it.

What Scholz should do is release a live dvd (finally) and maybe even unreleased stuff featuring Brad. The guy taped and saved so much stuff that there has to be some real gems in his basement. Forget another singer as there is only one Boston singer, and unfotunately he is now tragically gone.

I listen to a radio station Rock 101 based out of Manchester, NH. They knew Brad pretty well. This morning they were discussing new information that is now being released.

Brad obviously was in a tremendous amount of pain. Incredibly, he wrote notes all over the house so that when the paramedics (or whoever showed up) were aware that there was carbon monoxide in the house and to be careful. He also put his cat in a separate room so the cat would be ok. Clearly he was a thoughtful and caring man who had more pain that anyone of us can understand.

Depression seems to have a stigma attached to it. People who do not have diagnosed depression don’t realize just how painful and overwhelming it can be.

I would be interested in knowing if he was on anti-depressants, or maybe recently stopped taking them. Seemed like he had a lot to look forward to - his upcoming wedding, Boston tour, etc. Just seems so unnecessary.

This is so sad...I've known 3 people that have committed suicide, each in different types of pain. One in physical pain, the other 2 in psychological pain.

It hurts the people that they leave behind like hell, wondering why they did it, and if they should have done more to help, to see what was going on. But sometimes it's not for us to understand, and the only thing to do is pray that they're at peace now, and pray for those left behind to come to terms with this, and one day have their own peace.

:? I believe that's Fran's son, Anthony, for some reason....I'd like to know the whole story behind this, but that's for a different forum. Either way, it sure seems Scholz is very difficult to work with.
