I can't even imagine trying to answer a question like that about something that was seemingly coming to an end. Thanks Deano...you fuckhead. They interview you for, like, 100 hours and then only use about 5 minutes, right?

It was miserable. Cyndy and I were sitting in this dark club in SF and they have this big-assed bright light in your face. They are firing off questions and you can't see the guy who is asking the questions or the camera because the light is in your face. You never know when the camera is on you and you're trying to think of answers that don't make you look like a complete idiot. We would finish one question where I thought I actually sounded good and then they'd go "oops. Background noise. We'll have to re-do that. Can you remember what you just said?" Not.

I know how that feels....although it's on a TOTALLY smaller level....

Mark and I did a phone interview; it's posted on our Website....a Los Angeles DJ who was very cool...the show was called "New Artist Showcase"....I'm on the phone in our room; Mark is on the cordless phone downstairs and wandering around the house...

I distinctly remember my face feeling like it was on fire....and I was TERRIFIED that I was gonna say something completely moronic....GOD it was nerve-wracking...

It would have been more interesting if the BTM's producers would've thought of filming your part at the Fan Asylum office - that's where a lot of history happened and you were/are part of it.
Saw some BTMs of other bands and I loved it when they'd film on location (ex:the studio where an album was recorded,a certain office where the band was managed etc.)

SP is part of the reason I became a fan to begin with, and BIG part of the reason I became a singer myself.
He changed my life with his musical influence.Even though he is retired now, I would still love to hear him do something new,no matter how much range he does or doesn't have.

Thanks everyone. It is difficult to read some of these posts and not respond. I am a fan but I cannot respond as a fan because people read so much into anything I post. It is tough to care about someone and see hurtful and inaccurate things said about them and not want to set the record straight. It makes me sad to see so many angry people engaging in all the trash talk. I know how lucky I am to have shared in the Journey experience for so many years and I treasure those memories and relationships.

Yup. I had VH-1 interview me for one of the things they did on Styx. It was that show on myths they had and it was the one on Roboto. They interview you forever to use 10 seconds. They also - at least with mine - gave you leading things to point you to an answer which I didn't like.

I was also a member of Journey Force back in the day.
I have WONDERFUL memories of from my youth, for all the hard work you 2 and Tim did.
What a thrill it was to get my newsletter in the mail, and reading it cover to cover 3 or 4 times,before taking it to school the next day.I remember that everyone wanted to see it, and I felt a little on the inside because I was getting the scoop straight from the Journey camp.Boy, were those fun days.To this day, it makes me smile when I think of those times!!

If anyone has enough knowledge to write a book, and know about who the "real" guys of Journey were it is the 2 of you.Your hard work in those days, and our appreciation of it has not gone unnoticed or forgotten! Thanks for being a part of the community and chiming in and sharing your opinions!!

Honestly, there's a bit of truth in that regardless of whether we here might want to admit it. For the majority of people, Journey is simply a nostalgia act to go see over the summer. Get some friends together, buy a couple of tickets, buy some beer and try to pretend for a couple of hours that you don't have a demanding job, pressures of a family and a mortgage that is threatening to bankrupt you. It's simply escapist entertainment like going to a movie. They don't care about the personalities or controversies that weren't even big enough that few people outside of this board were even aware of.

Talk to the average person and they might remember Perry, but probably couldn't tell you anyone else in the band. Ross who??? They don't care who is singing as long as it sounds like Journey and they play the hits. They don't know who Augeri is and don't know why he left (if they even knew he was there to begin with). Outside of Europe, JSS is not much more of a name to your average person than Augeri was. Sure you'll get the occasional person like the one I talked to who was wildly impressed that "the lead singer for Yngwie Malmsteen and Eyes" would be performing since they had always liked him, but those people are in the minority. They will probably leave the concert impressed with him, but it's unlikely that they will run out and buy the new Journey cd.

If Soto-led Journey can score a hit on radio, the story might be different, but Journey stopped being relevant in the mid 80s for most people except for one song released in the late 90s. Anyone want to do a documentary on the last ten years of The Beach Boys? Styx? Survivor? Night Ranger? Yea, that's what I was afraid of....

That is why I said "regulars" if you will read what I wrote asshole. The general public who is most interested in a t.v. show don't know who Augeri or JSS is, they might after the next album and yes he has his many fans, but he's not a huge household name imo. I've asked relatives, friends, young people, and people in the business and most of them don't even know that Journey had a singer change yet.
