What a fucking stupid comment. Just because you are narrow minded doesn't mean the rest of us are.

Idiot.

That is why I said "regulars" if you will read what I wrote asshole. The general public who is most interested in a t.v. show don't know who Augeri or JSS is, they might after the next album and yes he has his many fans, but he's not a huge household name imo. I've asked relatives, friends, young people, and people in the business and most of them don't even know that Journey had a singer change yet.
I just know that new music with Jeff will wake up the casual Journey fan and get the band noticed again, like they truly deserve...

And you are 100% positive no one else outside MR or BT doesn't know Journey changed singers? Let's see, they just played in front of 400,000 people. I know there is not 400,000 people on these two boards.

Think again Miss.

Your question was should there be another BTM? nope, not enough people care. Argue all you want, call VH-1 ask them if they'll put up the money for it.

If I had an axe to grind, I can guaranfuckintee you, VH1 would take it in a heartbeat, especially if I wanted to tell the story. You all seem to forget that. That would be huge on VH1.

Which is a real shame that some would see your posts that way. :( I've heard a few, but I bet you and Cyndy have hours and hours of awesome stories and memories to share about the various artists you have worked with in your careers. :) You're very down to earth and it was cool meeting ya.........oh, and I guess Cyndy's OK too.  :P

Got me to notice again, too. Steve's "cracking" was wearing me out. Deen picking up the slack was great. But, now that we have Jeff, it is sure to draw even more back. IMO, of course!

Believe me, they tried that with Cyndy and I, too. I think they were disappointed that they didn't get any dirt on the band or any juicy stories from us.

I flat out refused to say something and they had to get me on camera saying I was not going to answer it. I realized pretty quickly they can take whatever I say, take one bit, and fly it in somewhere and take it out of context.

I have always wondered about Perry's "I never felt like part of the band" comment on BTM.....was there more said before or after that part saying "why" he felt that way??? Or was only that part used for more shock value? :?

Let's face it, all of the BTMs are designed to ultimately be an entertaining story. That story needs protagonists and antagonists. With Journey and Styx, it's pretty clear who they're going to villify and who they aren't. In terms of the Styx one, clearly DDY has proverbially kissed and made up since he's done a few things with them since.

I mean, the bit they did on "penguins" in the Styx BTM is a genuinely entertaining moment - you know why that was in there. But you didn't see them dwelling on Tommy's drug use in the sense of how it affected the band, did they? No. You don't think they put Suzanne in there because she was just DDY's wife, do you?

So there are many sides to all stories, and in a 60 minute show, how do you adequately tell the story of a band with 30 years of complex history? You can't. For the casual fan or someone who is tuning in, VH-1 does what it set it out to do. Had they given Styx an extended version like they did Journey, maybe it would have been more balanced.

That has always been my suspicion. It was probably preceded by something like "When I joined in 1978..." (or something along that type of line) or possibly followed by some kind of qualifying statement that would make the comment unimportant and less dramatic. We can't have THAT going on. Must milk drama! Must create drama where there isn't any! Whatever the rest of that comment was, we may never know, but I always try to keep those things in mind watching those kind of shows. You're only seeing what they want you see, which is usually a completely distorted version of what actually took place.

Hey, do you remember that lame-assed "attempt" in the "Director's Cut" to have that statement make more "sense"?

They cut back to Steve saying, "They had a nucleus between them that was strong..."

Freakin' cut and paste job!

Actually I don't think I've ever seen the directors cut... been trying to locate someone with a copy of it.

But yeah, if that line was another part of his "I never felt like part of the band" thing, then that only reinforces my point. For all anyone knows he might have only been talking about when he joined, or about the first couple of years, or until Gregg left and Jon came aboard, or something. Who knows. Point is, that one line that they focused on turned into probably a lot more than he meant it to be.

i was a little disappointed in how they edited it & highlighted all the negativity, but i wasn't surprised. the point of BTM is to attract viewers with drama & controversy - not to tell a complete, fair story.

one subject the director kept grilling us about was sherrie. we told him we had met her, but didn't know her. he said something like, "there are different levels of knowing. you didn't know her, but you knew her. what did you know?"

huh? :?

Doubt it, much more controversy to skate over...think Augeri would ask for full directorial control on Part 2 so the proper 'edits' could be managed?

If you watch Steve's facial expression when he says that you can clearly see that it was taken out of the context of a longer statement. I've alway suspected that it was said as a part of a discussion of his joining the band. Listen to his tone of voice and vocal inflections in the "they had this nucleus" statment and then the "never felt like part of the band" line and you can almost hear them being said as part of the same sentence.

Lora, it must be pretty frustrating for you (and Cyndy) to not be able to freely express yourself...but, at least you know the truth of things. I think it is great when you both share little things we fans didn't know - like about the Prince story & other neat things.
I would love to hear about the first time you both met SP - did YOU get nervous & shaky - like the rest of us? :) It's so great that you have remained loyal friends since the beginning and for being there for the fans, too.

As for BTM, you both did well & sounded professional. Yeah, those shows are all about getting drama & dirt & ratings...what's wrong with just telling the story of the band, the history, the huge success? Why do people think that would be boring? I love slice-of-life stories...there doesn't have to be a plot. :)

Absolutely. But I was the most nervous around Gregg Rolie because I had a crush on him. It took me awhile to be comfortable around the band members because I was (and still am) pretty shy.

Oh, that is sweet - I'm glad to hear you had a crush on a band member (I be crushin' on SP & that ain't no secret). Also, very shy, too. Do you still have contact with GR? Wish he had been able to be at the WOF ceremony, that would've been great - he was the only one missing. BTW, how long did it take to get the Star for Journey? I am certain I read in an old interview from the 80s that this was gonna happen?? Did it really take that long?
Do you & Cyndy have journalism experience? I thought from reading through the past Journey force newsletters that you both were journalists.
Let me know the next time you come down to L.A., it would be great to meet up...maybe, when Neal plays with Marco M. since Marco often plays nearby.
