Totally agree... the classics redone by Tommy & Jack are great. The new Night Ranger is really disappointing, unfortunately...

Don't laugh, but Schon/Soto have written some gems in only their first Disc. They might be the next monster witing duo or trio with the Frig added.

I hope it's better than their first album. That thing sucked. Couldn't find one song on it that I liked.

For Fucks sake M, Muppets, that's just pathetic...Shaw and Blades are where it's at currently in States, they're cool fuckin' guys and no way would they ever appear in Disneyland in the Muppet show, you've taken to time to listen to their material I take it?

Yes, I have. In fact, I came across this pile of crap only the other day....

I gotta agree here.
Matty, Matty, Matty...
Not even talking about their vocal/instument skills,
Shaw and Blades are one of the best, if not THE BEST melodic-rock
writing combination on the freakin planet.
Fuck, you think Perry/Schon/Cain were lethal???
These 2 guys are just made for eachother.

Now imagine an ENTIRE album of tunes co-penned by
Shaw/Blades/Schon/Cain...
Talk about heaven! :D

"the best melodic-rock writing combination on the freakin planet" is Perry/Schon/Cain, Carlitto. Shaw/Blades are second.

 Steady on CH!

I'm sorry I just don't get it...and I don't get Styx or Night Ranger either...except for maybe a couple of songs by each band (and those were written by De Young andf Keagy respectively...and NOT Blades or Shaw).

To my ears these guys sound like wannabes and imposters. And to say that they are in the same league as Perry/Schon/Cain is a pretty bizarre claim, CH.

Oh well...maybe I'll see the light one day...but I've had no joy so far.

Night Ranger live is an ass kicking good time. Brad Gillis is VERY underrated.

Never seen them, Saint John. But I heard Gillis was hired by Ozzy after Randy Rhoads died on the 1982 tour so he must have been a top guy.

Sorry bro, have to disagree.

Firstly, that team is no longer.

Secondly, Adams/Vallance/Lange wrote more songs and their best songs were better than Perry/Schon/Frigas.

Here we go.

You're FUCKIN' RIGHT here we go!! I really hope you said that to get a rise out of me. Even that faggoty assed, cross-dressing douche-bag Monker has never said anything THAT stupid. Money talks and bullshit walks. Look how many copies Journey's Greatest Hits has sold. Their lyrics are anthemic. EVERYONE knows them. No one, except you and a handful of transient fuckin' Canadians has ever even heard of that second-string song-writing team you mentioned.

Hey Dean!

Kiss - War Machine (Gene Simmons/Bryan Adams/Jim Vallance)

Kiss - Rock and Roll Hell (Gene Simmons/Bryan Adams/Jim Vallance)

Did you know of that writing team?

How far back are we going here for the writing duos/trios? Cause I can think of quite a few from way back. Lennon/McCartney/Harrison for example. Just wondering how far back in music history we're going to go in this discussion.

LOL, sure Ed. And not trying to demean Gene, but I have a tape of BA and Gene talking on a radio interview and Gene basically said BA and Jim did all the writing. He said something to the effect, "Bryan and Jim worked their asses off. I just sat there and added a word or two."

Pretty funny.

Yeah sure, but I think we are speaking of Melodic teams. McCartney/Lennon were undoubtedly the best. Then you got Jaeger/Richards.

Here you go pecker-checker:

When You Love A Woman
If He Should Break Your Heart (not a hit but it has incredible lyrics)
Don't Stop Believin' (song was spun more times in 05 than any Bryan Adams song ever was)
Who's Cryin' Now
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
Still They Ride
Girl Can't Help It
After The Fall
Mother Father
Winds Of March

Thank you Rockndeano for being a contestant on "Head-to-Head Lyrics." Try again cumguzzler.

Lennon and McCartney were part of a bullshit phenomenon when teenaged girls fell for guys with salad bowl haircuts. Their acid-induced ramblings DID produce a few lyrically profound songs. HOWEVER, they released a ton of material and the vast majority of it is mindless, comatose, wrist-slitting garbage. I'm glad that one-legged skank is going to take that creep to the cleaners. As for Lennon, while I do NOT condone his murder, that guy was an asshole for the last 20 years of his life. Fuck him, too.

Not a Canadian here, but I do know great albums regardless of their country of origin.

Cuts Like a Knife, Reckless, Into the Fire and Waking up the Neighbors constitute one hell of a string of consecutive albums. Hard to find many artists that have that solid of a block anywhere.

Dear dumbfuck, we're talking strictly lyrics. You're bringing what you know the songs to ACTUALLY sound like into the mix....hence your Schon statement. Objectively read the lyrics and you'll realize your "team" is about as good as the Devil Rays.

Dude respectfully I agree with the salad bowl haircut and acid induced ramblings but come on man give them their due. Those guys knew how to put out some music. Not to mention the fact that they got that type of rock music out into the mainstream. Opened the door for everyone else.

Moving on, ok how about Freddie Mercury and Brian May for writing some classics. I know Mercury was a cock smoker so don't bother throwing that out there when you reply.
