OT.. "Please put "OT" at the head of thread!!

Postby McNeil » Mon Mar 26, 2007 9:07 am

Jeez..Im sick of people, and one in particular.... starting OT threads, and not stating that it is , indeed, an OT thread... invariably, its a fucking boring load o shit about American Football/Baseball/ Basketball..and I waste precious seconds of my life, checking in...thinkin its prob gonna be "Journey-related" !!!

Of course, some threads, by their very title are self explanatory... like "Tyson the Bulldog" ...is erm...obviously about a skateboarding hound..and not about JSS, and the crew!!

Forum etiquette please !!!

ps... by the way.. I love American football .. !! but..please... cant you banter over it elsewhere???

I agree.

So many threads derailed and off topic.

Do we need a seperate OT board - but under the Journey banner?

OT rocks, we know we have a sports area a politcal area and other such avenues here.. but Journey fans just want a place to discuss other parts of life at the same place every day...... its why we always went to the cooler at BT all those years ago...and really why most of us have ended up here.

I agree. The title says what it is. This is a community and there is only so much JRNY that can be talked about. If a thread is about football, people will see it in the title and be interested in it or ignore it. No biggie.

Yeah, but when you title a thread "It's 1250AMEDT, let's talk" and then goes into defcom 3 with TVL throwing RPG's and grenades, it's amusing as Hell...to me anyway. You can't entitle a thread, "TVL has Herpes" or Rich Meyers works on his Brothers Hose." That won't fly.

I love the OT derailments. Just love them.

I started that thread innocently enough. I don't need a 65 year old Diane Chambers wanna be telling me how to live my life.

Um....isn't that what we begged Andrew to give us a Sports forum for? I notice no one ever uses it...all the sports end up in Journey threads. Use the sports forum, that would solve a lot of problems!

If you want a thread to be seen by more than a dozen people, you have to post it here. Simple as that.

I agree - there is only so much Journey - and we don't need a separate room. And I like the OT threads too and if one is not something I'm interested in, I ignore it. Not that hard to do ;)

I like the OT stuff too.
And if I wander into a thread I'm not interested in - I just wander back out. No prob to me either.

And the OT ones sometimes tend to be the funniest.
I see this place as a JOURNEY FANS FORUM - for us all to chat about all kinds of stuff. The love of Journey is the glue which keeps us here though.

It's funny I was thinking the same Macca about OT posts, there's one on here that posts a topic about some geeza in Liverpool impersonating that Beatles singer, now that's fuckin' way off topic
I enjoy the American football OT threads as much as I enjoy wakin' up in a pool of sick, love reading them always

Hey SusieP, talkin of off Topic, did you see that American Wife Swap last night on C4....Holy Crap, a family in Iowa swapped with a family from SF. The Iowa family lived on a farm, their kids didn't go to school and they ate only raw meat and some milky shit, no water. They never clean the house and hardly ever shower...kinda made us smelly euros seem like angels. If you didn't see it try and catch a repeat as it was some show. They clean their teeth with butter and clay...straight up. Funny thing was though their teeth were whiter than mine
The Country folk in the States are a scary bunch and when they do break out of their small towns we end up with the likes of Ted Nugent, fuckin' scary or what

Agreed. Honestly, if a topic is titled "Anna Nicole found to be her own baby-daddy", then I PRETTY much know it's gonna be an off-topic thread without the "ot". I mean do the "ot" thing if you must, doesn't bug me, but I could care less if it's left off too. So you wasted two seconds clicking and you do't want to read it... no biggie. Just pick another one to read.

Err no, I watched Jo Brand learning to play the organ, followed by Northanger Abbey.

Wife Swap sounds vile. Eurrggh. Glad I didn't see it.
Makes the Osbournes sound elegant and refined!
Does it air in the States or is it just on here?
