AI gets the ratings, the talent that goes home gets picked up and is better off than being THE Idol, Sanjaya gets better press than if he were the most talented and magazines newspapers and radio are having a field day with it. It's why Heather Mills was signed in for the dance contest. They know that more people than normal are going to tune in to see if Heather is going trip or fling her prosthesis into the judges stand while doing the can can. It's all about ratings and how best to get the people to tune in, imo.
