ACTUALLY, I'm sitting outside Frank's house right now. He'll be coming home soon and he and I will be having a serious talk. Nobody puts baby in the corner.

But, whatever - if it is suppose to be funny, I just didn't laugh.

Ed! That other one referenced a site or career, this one references the man himself, something creepy about that.

strangegrey wrote:Hey folks, a few things to comment on:
The tombstone thing.
Get over it. We wanted to go out with a few funnies. I mean, come ON! Who the hell makes up a tombstone for a site with less than 250 users (probably of which only 1/2 were even remotely active)...not to mention a site that's been up for the better part of 4 whole months. It's like crying over the death of a pet horsefly. We were barely a blip on the journey-online radar...the site didn't progress the way we envisioned it...Mike and I had specific goals set for the site and there's no shame in looking at a venture (whether it's business or otherwise) and saying "this aint working the way we planned, let's bag it now before it really gets out of hand".
The digs
Again, same thing as above. We wanted to go out with a few funnies. We had written 10-20 different versions of the various numbers and at one point we said, "fuck it, this shouldn't be too complicated" I really thought I was going to take more heat for #1 (on the twinkies comment)....but the Steve Perry thing. COME ON. The guy's career IS dead. Anyone that thinks otherwise needs to see a shrink. So by analogizing our site with something that should be considered a given, we thought we were safe there.
Reardon
He's not the sole reason the place shut down, far from it. But I will say this...it got old, real fast, worrying about what Reardon had hiding up his sleave. I analogized this to AR last night...it's like living across the street from a known sex offender...You're scared to death that one day, the guy's going to try to talk to your daughter, so you spend all of your time (including time that you should be at work, mowing the lawn, banging the wife) watching this guy to make sure your daughter doesn't get offered a piece of candy. Eventually, it becomes so all consuming that you can't help but realize the quality of your life is ruined. The guy *was* maintaining several usernames on TJF, he never posted from the same IP ONCE...you get real insight to just how demented this guy is, when he sends you a PM from one of his 'personas' telling you that he just got an email from the wife of another one of his 'personas' saying that the persona was killed in a car accident. I mean, what kind of sick minded whack job does this sorta thing? To go to these lengths to perpetuate this game is downright, well, sick!
Listen, I try not to take myself too seriously...it's unhealthy to. To take this band too seriously is a character flaw among Journey fans. Hell, I don't think the band members take themselves too seriously. Gotta love the story about the purple shirts.....people online bitching about the Purple shirts...so what does Neal do? order 5 more!!! LOL!
So to that end...try not to read too much into this....Mike and I had a plan. It didn't work the way we planned it and given the way things were progressing, it would have taken more work to put the plan on track....work=time...and time is of short supply right now. I'd rather spend my time enjoying the Arnold vs. Geoge Takai files Deano's posting...than to police a psychopath in Joe Reardon.
Hope that clears up alot...and for now, let's all get back to havin fun here.
-Frank

The forum didn't fly because it was founded upon the demonization of BT and MR. That stuff gets old real fast - obviously. Of course, the tombstone and "funnies" just brought it around full circle.
AR wrote:Ed! That other one referenced a site or career, this one references the man himself, something creepy about that.
IIRC, I picked the end date of the FTLOSM tour as the end date - the death of his career on stage.
Anyway, I was only pointing out that the joke about Perry on TJF was harmless. The loons were getting a little over sensitive.

So you were the other Neal fan over there, eh Red? Sheeze, that place couldn't go a day without a couple of attacks on Neal's personal life...never could understand the need for that.
Red13JoePa wrote:Yea.
Not exactly a hotbed of Neal support over there.
Saying a kind word about him there sorta made you identify with Bruce Willis wearing that sandwichboard in Harlem in the 3rd Die Hard.
