Jesus, Roth (hm. Just realized an oxymoron that is :)), howEVER you want to say it got to #1, IT GOT TO #1.

It wasn't on the "BOBW" because it was the "BOBW," not the "Best Of All 3 Worlds."
If where you're leading me is that even the band tried to erase the Cherone era, then I will acknowledge that without any qualm.

 Two years after the original release?

BOV1 came in '96, III in '98 so somebody I guess thought W/OY was an important enough VH track to repress the thing with that song added.

I disagree. I think it was some sort of contract buy out.

It had absolute ZERO to do with the success of the song?

Hey, 7Wishes. Is this VH we're in or are we back in Survivor with Slander refusing to give Jamison a shred of credit?

For VH standards Van Halen 3 was a failure.

The tour was also a failure by VH standards. I didn't buy a ticket.

Agreed, though I thought we were discussing the reasons for inclusion of the #1 song W/Out You on BOVI.

Without You wasnt that bad of a tune in my book. But "How Many Say I" was the worst song VH ever recorded.

I went into VH3 with an open mind and some tunes were good and others werent. As for the VH3 tour,I dug the fact they played alot of the older stuff that Sammy didn't wanna do and Gary was great during "Romeo Delight" and "Dance The Night Away".

I will say that Eddie's playing, sound and tone were good on that tour from the footage I've seen. He kinda sounded like he did on the Fair Warning tour.

As for Without You,Eddies playing was pretty good but definitely not his best. It got so much airplay mostly because of curiosity and DJ's analyzing the sound of it. Remember, this was when so many people were disappointed that VH didn't reunite with Roth after the Best Of Vol 1 and the MTV appearance.

No kidding,I dug the 2 tunes on the greatest hits album with Dave.It would have been interesting to see what the original lineup could have done at that time.

Me, too. I think a great album could have come from that missed opportunity.

Cause the album sucked ass! I'm sorry but it WAS irrelevant, and I'm a Van Halen fan from album #1, which I bought the week it was released! (Ok, granted that's because Gene Simmons name was on the back cover...but STILL...I heard ERRUPTION and it made me a fan for life)

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Cherone was all wrong for that band- they should've wrangled Sass Jordan into doing it like Eddie wanted. Now THAT';S an album that would've kicked our asses!

Also its not because the title is The Best Of BOTH Worlds because they changed the title at the last minute after they had the track list.

Does anyone know what the original title was going to be? I can't remember now.
