" I did get to take in the killer set by Jeff Scott Soto and friends a few nights later, again with Josh & Jamie in tow. The club was packed with JSS and Journey fans, and for good reason! Jeff had his classic solo lineup in tow (Gary Schutt, Dave Dzialak & Howie Simon) and put on a great performance, even if the sound system sucked ass. The show was opened by the Marco Mendoza trio, featuring Marco (Soul SirkUS) on bass & vocals, Steve Weingart on keyboards
and Joey Heredia on drums.
Joey is a killer drummer, and we recorded the drums for Josh Ramos (The Storm) at his place.
Ironically, Joey's previous client that week was Steve Perry. But the evening's Journey ties didn't end there."
Hmmmm...

He owns a studio, too. He is an amazing drummer. So, it is hard to know when this took place - was it during The Storm or recent?

chynablue wrote:Wow, I had no idea I’d stirred up all this trouble! I like a good Perry rumor as much as the next guy, although I certainly wasn’t looking to start one! Really simple, Joey Heredia is an awesome drummer that runs a studio used by popular clients (but NOT The Storm, which incidentally featured members of Journey.). Josh Ramos & I spent a few days there recording drums with the phenomenal John Macaluso for the disc we wrote together. (I’d post a spoiler about this disc here but I don’t want to get into any more trouble... : )
I don’t recall the exact timeline but if you scroll back a page on my site (http://www.ericragno.com) I’m sure it’s all there. Joey told us that Steve Perry had brought in some people to record a week or so before. I’m as big a fan as anyone so I wanted to hear more about it, just like you do. Joey said that Steve was VERY cool, and gave him an autographed copy of the live Escape DVD, which we later watched (muted, as we were recording) throughout the day. It sounded like Steve had been there to produce a band, which folks know he does from time to time. (Check out http://www.fanasylum.com/steveperry/ for a good read that touches on his love of this.)
So I’m sorry for the confusion. I was only trying to say was that the night at Loffler’s was pretty special, and there were lots of Journey ties both on stage and in the crowd, where I stood with many of you. Journey was all I listened to as a kid (Dream After Dream may have saved my life) and I still love all the incarnations of this band (although they haven’t been the same since George Tickner left...who said that, Monker? I think that’s hysterical…) And I can’t wait to see what the new album sounds like with my bro Jeff at the microphone, who has loved and respected this band as much as I have. Those guys are keeping the legacy alive and I am grateful for that.
That being said, it's late and I have to go pack. I’m going to New York to see a guy named Hugo.
Thanks for stopping by my site. Special thanks to Debbie for bringing this thread to my attention! You can always check out the latest chapter at http://www.ericragno.com.

Very cool of you to pop in and clarify. So, Perry was there to help produce? Cool. A lot of Perry fans here. Any info. you get would be much appreciated. You sure hang around with some cool motherfuckers, not to mention immensely talented musicians. Again, thanks for the clarification.
