It remains to be seen how "Journey" new material with JSS will be, but evidently you haven't heard Soul Sirkus as Soul Goes On and Coming Home have as much "soul" as anything Schon and Perry ever did, in fact I'd say more than anything Journey ever did.

Matt, I agree with NMT here, especially on Coming Home, JSS was definately channelling Perry on that one. Loved it first time I heard it. Have a listen to that one. :D

Blasphemer! :)

 Come on Matt, listen to Coming Home good and loud and tell me you don't here Perry's soul oozing out of that one!

How come it's acceptable when you guys wrote things like this but it's Neal bashing when I do it?

Because, HOTSie, you exagerrate it, make it out to be horrid acid metal shredding orgies that go on longer than Edward Van Halen and I'm voicing the opinion that he could resimplify SOME of the soloing he does.

That a good enough answer for you? :P

Plus HOTS likes Michael Bolton, which renders her opinion on music as credible as Orenthal's alibi.

amen. what in the world???????? sheesh. I am a loon, make no mistake, but put Neal in the back seat? come on. IF, I repeat IF, it is the singer who pulls it outta Neal, there can't possibly be anyone better at it now than JEFF!! it is almost unimaginable to think what is gonna come out of Journey now.

sermon over.

Wrong! Gross exaggeration from both you goons, Nig and JoePa.

I said that Bolton looks good with short hair but I never stated more than what you and SG wrote, Joe baby.

You left your keys in my door, Joe. How did you get home?

Okay - this is possibly a controversial thought - but is JSS too contented and well-adjusted to communicate the deep pain and melancholy that made the Perry era so stirring to the spirit? Does JSS actually feel as fucked up like Perry did when he sang? Or is he just a highly likeable bloke who can rock?

but you did kinda say that.

what did you mean then? Journey is all about Neal's extended solos, which, in form, have been echoed throughout the melodicrock genre by numerous Journey wannabees.

gotta go. be back later to check on this.

it's possible. or maybe Jeff just doesn't find it necessary to dwell on drama, or create drama, in order to make really good music. I'm sure he's had plenty of 'mess' in his life, just like the rest of us.

now I'm late......dangit. bye

I know where you're coming from on this one, Perry's voice stirs the spirit like no one elses for sure. For me it is in the soul and passion of the delivery of the song, whatever emotion that happens to bring that out. Such as After The Fall, there is one line (below) in that song that just drips of Perry's emotional delivery and I was kinda leery that JSS would be able to pull off that trade mark Perry delivery. I can't remember which UK concert it was from, but IMO he nailed it.

You meant more to me
Than I let you see
You held on somehow
All your tenderness
And your sweet caress
I miss you now

That's why I love Still They Ride, not a ton of range in that one but IMO has to be the most passionately delivered song of their catalogue. Deen does a fabulous job on that one but I'd be curious to hear Jeff's version of it. Don't get me wrong you can deliver the rockers with a passionate gusto too and JSS or Perry have no problem there. Am I making any sense? :?

Yea, but I'm as superhuman as Schon with a strat in his hands.
