OT | Summer Movie Season

Postby Jeremey » Fri Apr 06, 2007 10:49 pm

Here's another off topic poll. I love movies, and summer is my favorite time of the year....This summer looks to be a great year for movies, though lots of "part 3" sequels out this year as well. What are you guys most looking forward to seeing this summer?

I think for me right now it'd have to be Spiderman 3, but there could be a sleeper hit in the wings I'm not aware of right now...

SM3 is the #1 movie I'm looking forward to. Also:

Knocked Up (comedy with Seth Rogan)
http://www.iklipz.com/MovieDetail.aspx? ... 6d92f4c039

1048 (paranormal thriller with John Cusack)
http://www.iklipz.com/MovieDetail.aspx? ... 3483365ec1

Disturbia (thriller/suspense)
http://www.iklipz.com/MovieDetail.aspx? ... 5638d420c3

I know a lot of people are excited about Grindhouse. But sitting on my ass for three hours in a theater doesn't do it for me.

Gotta be Spider-Man 3. I want to see the Transformers movie, and I always like the Harry Potter stuff, but Spider-Man is a great film franchise, and this one sounds like it's shaping up to be a winner.

Spidey 3 may set another BO record, I'm betting.

Knocked Up does look pretty cool as well - I love everything Judd Apatow does & have the entire Freaks & Geeks series on DVD. Pretty cool shit. Seth Rogan is fucking cool also.

Disturbia appears to be a Rear Window knock-off for the Myspace generation. Shia LeBouf or whatever his name is really irks me everytime he pops up in a movie. I don't know why!?

F&G was a great show. How many seasons/episodes are on that DVD?

In the words of Mary Jane........
Face it Tiger, you've just hit the jackpot!"

I so can't wait for this one, it's gonna make a killer
amount of cash.
I hope it's as good as the first two.

There was only 1 season! It's the entire solo season, I don't remember how many episodes. Maybe 20 or something?

Best moment ever: When Sam finally works up his nerve to slow dance with the chick at the dance to "Come Sail Away" and gets out on the dance floor right when the chorus opens up and the guitars kick in....Sublime!!

Yeah, that show was incredibly true to the time period. Just like the movie Dazed and Confused. I am sure you like that one, J.

Die Hard 4, w/out question.
The weakness of 2 dampens Spidey 3 for me.

Same w/ Oceans 12 and 13.

Neither spidey nor Oceans held a candle to the first.
Well, except for Catherine Zeta Jones.

Believe it or not, never saw that one. The time period was a little before my time - With F&G, the younger group of kids would have been maybe a year or two ahead of me in school. D&C took place when I was spinning Elvis records on my Playskool portable plastic record player!

Back to F&G, all in all, that cast has gone on to some interesting things: James Franco (Spiderman franchise), Linda Cardellini (ER, Scooby Doo franchise), Seth Rogan (40 YO Virgin, Knocked Up), Jason Segel/Nick (How I Met Your Mother, CSI)....Some of the younger actors haven't fared too well. Wonder what happened to Bill Haverchuck?!

You've gotta rent Dazed & Confused. I think you will love it. One of my favorites. I was only about 9 during the time this movie takes place, but I can still identify with it.

Saw a really funny movie last night - Just Friends. Rent that, too.

 This is his best role ever. He plays a guy who graduated years before but still hangs out with high school seniors. His best line: "That's why I love high school girls. I keep getting older, they stay the same."

It seems the only time we ever see this dude he looks like this. What a life. Speaking of which, could you imagine being the band playing at this gig and having to face THAT all night long? How many times do you think he grabbed the mic that night?

Spiderman 3 is just the same shit different story. Sure I liked the 1st two , but I didnt see anything exciting in the previews of the 3rd one to make it a must-see-before-its-out-on-dvd/bluray.
Anyone knows when OLD SCHOOL 2 is finally coming out!? :?

The trailer for SM3 does make the movie look like it will be 5 hours long.

I mean there are plenty of actors we know are jacked but aren't perpetually bare-torsoed and flexing

And given the suspicious alliance that was in place for a while, I have a good hunch that Armstrong made McConaughey's Brown Eye Blue.
Or vice versa.
In a manner of speaking.

I enjoyed the first "Pirates" move but not the second one so much. I actually thought that Richards was going to be in that one and wasn't aware until just recently that there was a 3rd movie planned.

BTW, I think someone called Kurt Cobain a scumbag in another thread.

I heard that Disney is limiting KR's role in publicity for Pirates. They must think he's a scumbag or something.
