As a northern-born transplanted European who was born with a hockey stick in my hands (although I never figured out how to use the damned thing, or how to skate), and now lives south of the Mason-Dixon line, it amuses me to no end to see non-northerners' response to professional hockey. I've been to games in Atlanta, Greensboro, and Nashville, and I can tell you, there's nothing quite like seeing a hundred rednecks with confederate (treason) flag t-shirts and massive pot-bellies whooping it up at rinkside. It's a shame, because hockey thought it was expanding its appeal by moving into the south and southwest, but it only has local appeal in those cities, and it's diluted the talent noticeably. That's why my Islanders are going to shock the world and win the whole thing. This is the first in the New Drive for Five!
