Well, I am a little confused because MSNBC suspended him but not CBS. So will he still get to do the radio part of it?

Don't know about that.
As bad as he is, he is the life of that show. When he's not there, you can seriously hear crickets.

Not sure what the answer is. Firing him might be a bit harsh, and might not even be the best way to heal this crap. But how can they ever fire anyone over this stuff again if they don't fire him?

Firing will do no good, because someone else will hire him, for his "outrageousness". That equals ratings, ratings equals money, money equals greed. It's a cycle for the industry. Just because he is suspended for 2 weeks (now) doesn't mean they can't play "best of" shows.

Jesse Jackson got no punishment for calling N Y himmie town yrs ago. And political correctness is a direct result of groups that vote for Democrats. Those groups know how to get the attention of the media, who is also part of it, and the politicians of both parties just hop to their tune. Isn't it about time to let ratings make the call. Back in our day it was "sticks and stones" now it is whine to the media.

I think there are good and bad in ALL walks of life.

I prefer to call someone a dickhead, becasue they are just that - a dickhead. Not a black dickhead, or an asian dickhead or a pommy dickhead. Just a plain old dickhead. Period.

That is so true, Andrew. The problem is so many people still want to throw down the race card even if it's not applicable. A dickhead is a dickhead - even if they are purple with green spots!!

Colorless America! Not in your lifetime or the lifetime of your children. A racist act is a racist act. Violence is violence. I don't care what color the person is who might hit me in the mouth and I don't care what age I am when they do it, it still hurts the same. My argument is with the person who is spewing the vomit. I don't care what color the person might be. The awfulness of this is not that he's a man in the street smacking a little old lady in a wheelchair; this is a personality on the radio seen by millions of viewers. He's saying what he felt about the nappy headed hos. He's saying what people think. Next week he might go as far as talking about the red neck hillbilly living with his sister in the Appalachias who is also the mother of his children. Doesn't make Imus less of a fool; just makes you look ridiculous going to the newspaper to pick out an article where a black guy hits a woman in the mouth to prove his point that black women are nappy headed hos. What the fuck?? I'm sure if you keep looking you'll find more examples of the your colorless America. It might show us a little of your Colorless America.

What the fuck are you trying to say here. All I was pointing out was the fact that Imus made a racist comment and the black community wants him fired if not dead yet when a black man attacks a wheelchair bound elderly woman where are those same community "leaders" (sharpton, jackson etc.) They are no where to be fuckin found and won't speak about it. And as for your comment about being shackled in the bowels of a boat and sold as slaves, check your history because it was the rich black leaders in Africa who sold off their own people to the white man in America. So please don't spew that shit at me, K

Good point andrew, I have no problem with people of any color, creed, nationality, or ehtnic background when they go out and earn the american dream (which by definition is different for each person) but when a certain percentage of a certain race walks around here acting like I owe them something for something that happened 400 fuckin years ago. I had no control over my ancestors or what they did. None of us here were even a tickle in our fathers' ball sack 400 years ago, so they need to stop blaming me, you and everyone else for what happened in the past.

I watch/ listen to Imus, after I drop off my daughter to her bus stop.I listen some of it ,and sleep through some, but I enjoy it. He has some good musical guests on there. He fucked up when he made that comment. he also has a ranch where has helped out many kids of all colors. There was a young black man that he went on about how good a rider he was and wanted to promote him for rodeo riding. And he did.I have freinds of different colors and backgrounds.Sometimes when im pissed I still will say a racial slur.Dosent make it right,or when you go on the BET channel,or MTV or MTV 2.,you have videos saying the N word, or rapping about "holes" or dirty young white girls. There is no apology for that. He did apologize. Jesse Jackson screwed women in his chuch. Not only did not have to step down { not even for one day}but he got a standing ovation that sunday after the story was out. Not even counting the lie he said that "he was there when ML King was shot."What a liar. Imus we be suspended, Monday. Just think how much money MSNBC will make off this comment. They should split it with Imus. This is bullshit, it makes good rating for the networks.

There is a thing called reverse racism. Jess Jackson and Al Sharpton are fucking racists. These slack fucks protest everything. As long as there a black thing involved, they are protesting. Martin Luther King would be so embarrassed by these assholes.

I'm a strong advocate for a colourless America. However, these Blacks (listed above)want to play the race card at every turn.

What chaps my ass about Sharpton is that he is screaming for Imus to be fired.
If he wanted everyone that called a black female a "nappy headed ho" or worse, it immediately put Rap Music out of business.Imus and his crew were actually quoting a line from Spike Lee's movie School Daze.I am no Imus fan,but so called shock jocks are all about being outrageous. All the PC BS in the last 15 years or so,has ruined any type of comedy. What would it be like now if a comedian like Richard Pryor came about today?I just think it's stupid.Comedy isn't supposed to be kind and cutesy,it should be irreverent. I know that a lot of the folks here listen to Stern and he has always been outrageous, that's what has made him popular and what he has built a career on.

I am a HUGE stand up comedy fan and Patrice O'Neal made more sense than anyone on the panel discussing it tonight. He was actually on the side of Imus, saying it was said in a comedic light.I hope some on got it and posts it on You tube.

Sharpton is the biggest hypocrite of all.Where was his outrage and demand for justice when that thug in NYC, beat and robbed that 100 year old woman for $60?

As far as Jackson is concerned, why was he not fired from the Rainbow Coalition in 1988 after his "Hymietown"statement?

Well, now they are saying that CBS and MSNBC are suspending him for two weeks......starting next Monday. But they aren't suspending Bernie who said they were some hard core hos. So I guess they aren't mad because they called them hos. They are mad because they called them nappy headed. As a woman I find that a little insulting. To me both names are equaling bad.

I couldn't agree more... (oh, fuck I'm sounding like that Dickhead of 2006)

But Deano, I have to bring in two points (with heaps of sarcasm, I might add)...the whole anti-reverse-racism thing goes a bit against your politics (as I, admittedly, assume they stand). Nothing wrong with it from my point of view, as I agree with you...it's just surprising to see it from you. I had always assumed that most democrats/liberals never liked the idea of calling out folks like Fat Albert and "The Reverend Jackson" as reverse-racists....but, regardless, I'm surprised. On a minor point, your use of the word 'colour' has a surprisingly 'european' flavor to it...was that a slip? ;)

To point, I've never liked Imus...I am squarely in Howard's corner for life...so fuck him. I'm sure if the intent to say 'nappy headed hoes' was not there, the residual effect will net some positive ratings for his show (sadly). If it was there, ratings were certainly in mind.

Racism today, is a terribly over-complicated problem. I wish more people would simply look at one another as people, not colors. It doesn't have to be political....it's a social issue that is further complicated by political opportunists on both sides of the aisle looking to take advantage of one side or another. It's sad.

If there was a 'white miss america' it would most certainly be considered racist....but the fact that there seems to be a 'black' everything simply raises the racism issue to the forefront. If there were not black or white special this or that, racism would descend to a non-issue....It's folks like Jackson, Fat Albert and others that are scared to death of that happening that they continually scratch the wound until it's a festering blob that wont heal.

The world would most certainly be better off without Al and Jesse.

Call me crazy, but Clinton achieved all of that and more.

I hate Jesse and Al. I hate Rosie. I hate Imus. I hate, hannity, Bush, Shrub, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rice, Rummy, Bolton and 95% of the GOP Congress.

Correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't part of the sworn Lewinsky testimony that she DOMED him while he was on the horn with a senator or General on business?

Senator/General: "Billsy, the joint chiefs inform me they've got intelligence indicating a 95% rate of certainty that if we bomb a certain maritime vessel we will clip bin Laden. Should we err on the side of caution, though?"

Bill: "(in a trance-like monotone) Yes. Yes. Good GOD yesssss!!!"

Senator/General: (aside) "ABORT! ABORT! (click)"

If you want to know very simply why distrust still exists in America, take a look at the front page of today's USA Today sports section. Check out the cover story. I think the photo speaks volumes. I could care less to hear excuses to try to explain it away.

Ignorance is NOT to fucking blame here. Look, I have worked in the Fire/EMS world for years. Both professionally and volunteer. I've seen the dead black kids and I have seen the dead white grandmas from the young black man beating the fuck out of her for 20 bucks. I'm with I think it was Dean. Fuck the Black Miss USA, fuck the Black Mr Olympia, fuck the United Negro College Fund and so forth. There's just as many white folk that need help for college as blacks. What about a Whiteman's College Fund....Ah, I can see the Imus storu going to the back burner now...... Fuck them all. I'm not a racist, I a realist. I have many black friends. Fuck, I'm a football coach and have 4 black coaches and me. I know what goes on. I ride the kids home to dark blackened windows where there is no power or heat. Or for that matter a PARENT!!!! I got your fucking IGNORANCE hanging between my fucking legs!!!! I'm for the American way too.

I would like nothing more than for The Rev Al Shaprton to fall off a cliff in Iowa. I think he is more a racist trouble maker than anyone that may where a hood at times.

Ignorance is NOT to blame. People like you who stick your head in the sand and say IGNORANCE, IGNORANCE, IGNORANCE!!! That unfortunately is becoming the American way.

Wow, there goes my fucking bloodpressure.......

okay here something to ponder...IMUS in the morning is not being suspended right now...why is that, they are waiting til Monday to suspend him

BECAUSE of his charity work on the radio at the end of the week with I think its autism network or something like that for the kids.. So how ironic, the charity he is doing and working on over shadowed by one remark, because way too sensitive Americans, black or otherwise...If he raises a few million dollars this week, I think that would be awesome, the American way etc...( I am not a fan of IMUS)

Now after he comes back, it will be interesting to see, if any of his advertisers will drop him and if radio stations accross America will drop him. If those things dont happen....why fire him? If advertisers start droping like flies, then you will see stations droping IMUS like a hot patato, end of IMUS.

Rick
