JOURNEY and LIVE EARTH???

Postby lights1961 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 2:50 am

Has the band been approached? Does their schedule permit July 7 to be open? Do we as fans want Journey to perform at this event?? It would be great exposure WORLD WIDE that is for sure!!

What do we think??

I go back and forth with this, right now, know, at least in the US, Being with Kayne West and Kelly Clarkson, just seems so out of place---however, if another US venue comes into play, in the west coast, why not.

Actually The Police and Bon Jovi are on with the East US one too (Giant Stadium). Would love to see Journey perform at this. Voila! Journey/Bon Jovi........Deb's dream concert! :D

It would be a great opportunity for the band, and I think JSS would slay in front of that kind of crowd. I doubt they'll be asked though, unfortunately.

Why can't the guys just take SOME time off and not be on the stage, when some fans want them there? Is it too much to ask to allow them time doing what they want to do, say taking their kids on a nice picnic, or working on music at their leisure?

Remember the saying, we can't miss them, if they don't go away.

yes I hear you---but this would be a the 2nd exception as is the Virginia show...

THAT said, 90% of the nation has never seen JRNY do **LIVE**performance in a very LONG TIME, this would be in front of the biggest audience ever and a world wide stage!!

Where was Journey for Live Aid in 1985? Taking time off from being out on the road. It should be no different now. The boys aren't obligated to be a part of what you want them to be a part of. How many times have you seen them live? How many times did you hear the same song over and over again without giving them a chance to slightly fade form yoru memory, so you could enjoy them as much or more the next time you saw them live? And don't give some bullshit answer like Journey is the best rock band and their music is the only thing that allows me to go on in life.

LET THEM FUCKING TAKE A BREAK!

 It's not a tour, it's one show.....with a huge audience exposure. Rick's not making any demands from what I can see, just thinks it would be cool and wonders what everybody else thinks.......sheesh!

I never said it was being treated as a tour.

I wanted the boys to play a concert for my birthday party a long time ago when I turned 18, but that didn't happen either. I'd rather they sit it out for a while. They can do their own things away from each other and the fans if they choose. In other words, I'm willing to allow them to have a LIFE, and not have to go out for ONE concert or a tour or whatever. What's so bad abotu a FAN expressing THIS opinino and not going along with what a few other people want?

SHEESH!

What you don't understand Lights(Rick), and I am on your side of thinking here(wanting more shows) is the money factor. Journey won't keep their road crew on retainer for a bunch of months with no shows scheduled. They need their crew to put on any shows. The VA show is special, hence the crew being kept around.

Right. With all the artists on this bill, Journey wouldn't have more than 4 or 5 songs, tops (probably 3, in reality). It wouldn't be hard for them to show up and play DSB, Separate Ways, and LTS, songs they've done thousands of times.

I think it's a good thing they're taking a break from touring, but that doesn't prohibit one-off shows like this that could really help out the band and gain their new line-up some exposure. One 20-30 minute set is not a tour.

Read my post above yours. You would keep the crew on just for the one off? That means you pay them whether they work or not.

I see your point. Big time publicity is worth it perhaps.

*who cares*your opinion is okay with me, as is Deanos logic. This is only for a one time event, not start a tour for 2007---EVEN I DONT WANT THAT!! :-)

I just think for WORLD WIDE EXPOSURE, I would like to think---this might actually be worth something in a return on investment for 2008, especially if they could premiere a brand new tune.

too bad, but I can understand with costs of getting all the members and crew to one place for 4 songs. It would sure be cool though!!

I know you do, dude. Other people don't agree though.

I was happy to see Jeff posting today about the alleged "album to be" not happening. I think they deserve to take a break longer than a few select fans do. We ALL want the same thing fpr the band, in the long run, and that is more exposure, hit songs on the radio, Jeff getting his long overdue, um, due. If they don't go at a slower pace than what we've gotten the last 6 1/2 years, then there will never be a point when the above things can happen. EVERYONE has to realize that, not just you and Deano and I. (and the three of us apparently already do understand this)

While the exposure could be great, I hope Journey doesn't take part in this fuckin' ridiculous event. The planet is fine. It'll be here long after we are. We've been recording temperatures for what...200 years. The planet has been around for several hundred MILLION? To think that a mere 2 degree spike in the temperature over the next several hundred years is going to make a difference is silly. All the bands playing this "event" are sissy loving, tree huggers. Please do not play in this moronic event that makes Al Gore think he is still relevant. It's April in Chicago and 35 degrees. Where's global warming when you NEED it?

Bon Jovi... God, if there was ever a band that needs to take a break...

Journey should've played Live Aid too. They sure had some wonky bands there.
Regarding global warming, I totally believe it. It may not be that the planet is gonna vanish, but there will be problems and those are already starting.
Strange, 3 weeks ago, we had 8 inches of snow. Day before yesterday it was 75 degrees.
??
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I could see you walking outside the venue carrying a "The Planet is fine, morons!" message and messing up Gore's fest.

You said it, like I was thinking about the whole event and a little timid about stating that fact here.

WORLD WIDE EXPOSURE would be damn cool!! BTW, these morons will be polluting the EARTH more that day, with MASS humanity and waste, littering, car pollution and noise pollution!!
