IRS: Joe Francis caught in $20 million corporate evasion scheme
APRIL 11-- Joe Francis, the "Girls Gone Wild" founder, was indicted today on federal tax evasion charges for illegally deducting more than $20 million in phony business expenses from his 2002 and 2003 corporate tax returns. According to a two count indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Reno, Nevada, Francis, 34, sought to conceal income through the use of offshore companies and nominees. At one point, he transferred $15 million from one offshore bank account to a California brokerage account in the name of a Cayman Islands corporation he controlled. Below you'll find a copy of the indictment filed against Francis, who is pictured in the mug shot at right. If convicted of the federal charges, he faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and fines of up to $500,000. Francis was arrested yesterday on an unrelated federal warrant stemming from a civil lawsuit brought against him by seven underage women who were filmed by "Girls Gone Wild" cameramen in Florida in 2003. The contempt citation was issued after Francis rebuffed a judge's order to settle the case with the aid of a mediator.

I don't really agree with some of this guys business antics, but I will side with him on the fact that there's alot of girls out there that will lie about their age at any time to do what's convienient for them at that time. I've met many myself. I will also go as far as to say that it's not just the girls that will lie about their ages. Kids lie about their ages to get cigerettes, alcohol, and other things you need to be 18 to do or get. I believe these girls lied because they wanted to do what was "popular" at that given time and with no thought of the consequences that could arise later. Then when the shit hits the fan with either their parents or friends, they cry and play victim, and want monitary compensation for their "trauma". I throw the bullshit flag on that one....

If Mr Francis was smart, he'd have the girls videotaped saying they were 18 for proof and keep it locked up just in case shit like this arises. Affidavits, consent forms, etc... anything to protect your ass. In todays Lawsuit-Happy society, you have to do anything and everything possible to protect your ass.

In a case that took some crazy turns itself, a team of Chicago lawyers said Wednesday that the creator of the raucous "Girls Gone Wild'' video series has agreed to compensate teens who suffered "emotional distress" after appearing nude in his racy DVDs.
The attorneys claimed filmmaker Joe Francis, 34, had gone "beyond all possible bounds of decency" when he included their seven clients, underage at the time, in videos.

Chicago lawyer Larry Selander of the Duane Morris firm declined to reveal terms of the agreement reached in Florida. This year Francis, while being reprimanded by a judge for swearing, replied, "If my mother was suing me for $20 million, you better believe I would use that language.''

"We are happy that we've been able to help the girls put this episode behind them,'' Selander said in an interview.


Put dirty feet on table
In the Florida case, an angry judge ordered Francis arrested for contempt of court. In another instance, a shoeless Francis showed up at a mediation session four hours late dressed in shorts, put his dirty feet up on a table and allegedly unleashed an obscenity-laced tirade.
Selander's team had argued that the girls, who were from Florida and Alabama, were underage when filmed in 2003. Francis, who earns a reported $29 million a year with his films of boozy college-age women at spring break locations, had countered that the girls said they were adults.

But U.S. District Judge Richard Smoak told Francis, "It does not take a very brave man to go out and corner a girl in the middle of spring break who had four drinks.''

Francis, who was indicted on tax evasion charges Wednesday, could not be reached for comment. But he once told the Los Angeles Times, "Envy makes you a target.''

I heard this morning on the news that Francis tried to bribe a guard at the jail facility he is in with cash to get a bottle of water. As guards searched his cell, they found drugs. I don't know if they were script or otherwise, but now he is facing charges for having contraband in his cell. He is in enough trouble as it is, and now he has more charges to face. How fucking dumb can anyone get?
