My husband and I have been married for 12 years and together for 6 years before that. We're equals in the relationship, but we know that he's better at some things and I'm better at others. He can build anything and I can't! I can write pretty well and he can't. So he fixes everything and I write everything. He hates cutting the grass and I don't mind it, so that is my job. I hate grocery shopping and he doesn't mind it, so he does the shopping. Whoever is home to make dinner makes it. When it comes to investments/finances, that is his department. He watches Bloomberg and CNBC all the time and does all of the research, so he gets to make those decisions. I just know where the money is if I need it! The parenting is also split pretty equally now since we both work full time.
I think the Stand By Your Man song is kind of insulting to men as well as women. It makes men sound to stupid to make good choices.
