How long before Eddie Van Halen's 5150 becomes a reality?

Postby Voyager » Sat Dec 30, 2006 3:09 pm

What does 5150 mean?

5150 is a designated California Welfare and Institutions Code. This code allows a professional person designated by Fresno County to admit you to a psychiatric facility for involuntary 72-hour treatment and evaluation. This person could be a police officer or perhaps a crisis Mental Health worker.

Was Eddie Van Halen being prophetic when he started embracing the term 5150? Did he have some kind of premonition that this code would eventually be used on him some day in the future? The way things are going in Eddie's life, it looks like it may be very possible to see 5150 become a reality.

Any thoughts?

Maybe he realized it when he was hanging out with that Buddhist during the Balance album.

I never knew that's what 5150 meant.

This immediately brought to mind the end of the Hot for Teacher video, where Eddie's in that straight jacket, "relaxing".

I was surfing the Web and found the following article on the symptoms of alcoholism very interesting:

Alcoholism is a disease of the mind. Alcohol is often abused to self medicate anxiety, depression, irritability and sleep disorders but these conditions are worsened by drinking. This vicious cycle increases the amount of drinking as the psychological problems become increasingly traumatic and drinking is continued to numb the pain. Alcoholics will often deny having alcoholism symptoms and may drink in secret to cover-up the problem. Dramatic mood swings and aggression also accompany alcoholic drinking. Some alcoholics will even resort to doing strange, illogical things such as trashing $20,000.00 guitars onstage and replacing bass players in their band with little kids.

Wow! That explains everything.

he needs to get his head out of the money issue and wrap it around the music issue and get back to having fun with the boys ...the money will follow if he does the right thing.

Eddie Van Salesman doesn't need to tour anymore. He has a new corporation,EVH Brand. EVH guitars, amps,D Tuna etc. Plus Van Halen, his other corporation still makes a lot of money with CD sales.
