OT: New REO CD at Walmart - Great Value

Postby AR » Thu Apr 19, 2007 11:31 am

When you buy the new REO Speedwagon CD at WalMart you get:

1. The new studio CD
2. A re-recording of Hi-Infidelity at XM Studios from 2006
3. A DVD of 7 live unpugged songs from XM

Total Price - $14.99

Shit I remember paying $16.99 for 1 CD.

Whatever you think of them, this is great value and more bands should take notice.

FYI, while I think Kevin Cronin's voice has lost a lot of bass over the years, the performances here good. I'm really glad I bought it. The 25th anniversary performance of Hi Infidelity is great.

Just think of this: A new Journey CD of new material. Live DVD with the hits, and then they could have include a CD of Jeff doing stuff like Open the Door and some other obscurities. 8)

Dude, his voice is shot. Saw him live and he soundedlike a tin can.

I agree and I knew you would say that. He lost all the low end.

I guess because this was recorded under pristine conditions at XM, is probably why it comes off better. Either way I am mostly impressed with the value of 1 DVD and 2 CD's for 15 bucks.

Wish Journey would put out this kind of package on the next release for sure. Cozy up with WalMart or Best Buy. The production on all this stuff is light years above Generations and the awful sound quality it had.

I remember thinking the last two times I saw them that he sounded higher than I recall him being. He sounds fine in a live setting, in my opinion, with all the noise going on that comes with a rock concert but I can't imagine him sounding anywhere near as good as he used to on a studio album.

The soundbytes I heard sounded good to me. Very catchy hooks in the songs. Yeah, Cronin's voice definitely is not what it used to be, but heck, there isn't very many lead guys nowadays from that era that still has their voice in prime shape.

Bought the new REO 3 pack a couple of days after it came out. It is a good cd(s) and a great value for the money as you said, two cds and a dvd.
Saw REO back 3 years ago in Gulfport (2 sold out nights) They rocked. At times Kevin's voice was a little thin, but at times it was there. Even he was surprised when he hit the very high note on WISH YOU WERE THERE..after hitting it he let out a yyyyyeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss!!!!!!! Which got the audience yelling.
Seen them about 4 times over the years, and yes they have mellowed on cd, but still very much rock in concert-ERIC

I just picked up the three pack today as well. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I am eager to. The soundbytes I heard from here sounded pretty good to me. I think KC is still a good singer and he does a good job live. I saw REO Speedwagon back about 4 years ago in Salem, VA, and they did rock! I never really buy new stuff from older bands like this in the hopes that the frontman/frontwoman (if the band still has the original singer) is going to sound exactly like they did 20 years ago.

Journey and REO are Azoff managed bands. I would think something like this package would make some sense for Journey who are a higher draw than REO (with no offense to REO meant)

I have Find Your Own Way Home too! I love it! When you put in disk 2, High Infidelity, into your computer, there are three additional XM videos. It's cool to get all these extra little perks for the price of one cd!
