That's not what the two party system is supposed to be about, but that's the way it's become. I think the reason it's become that way is because the Republican party has been bought and paid for by the major corporations, the gun lobby, the tobacco lobby(which really falls under the major corporation category) and the evangelical church(a huge unincorporated, moneymaking enterprise).
IMO, the Republican Party as it exists today in nothing more than a syndicate designed to take care of themselves politically and financially above all and everyone else. They don't give a shit about this country beyond what they can use it to their benefit for.

Do you think the Democratic party is not owned by special interest groups?

You mean Saddam and Iraq didn't violate all those UN resolutions

When Republicans get involved in scandals they're forced to resign. Democrats on the other hand are promoted ala William Jefferson, Barney Frank..etc...etc..RockinDeano wrote:I am not entering into another Rep v Dem fight.
I know cuz when you're confronted with facts like these you head for the hills

Most of the top Democrats agreed with and/or authorized the war with Iraq. They are just as responsible as Republicans for the outcome of it. They would have done the same thing the Republican-controlled Congress did.

Please. You are saying we had to go to war in Iraq? Fuck, it was pressing...Man, we had to get rid of Saddam right then and there. I find this very odd. The president says we went into Iraq based on WMD.

These statements are just as applicable to Democrats as they are to Republicans and I would argue even moreso. The Democrats are in controll of Congress now and we're seeing the same kind of things going on, i.e., back room deals, partisan bickering, etc.

Not feeling the energy to debate, but I have to speak to the Teachers' Union comment. As a teacher I'll be the first to say I think our union is pretty much pathetic, but the union is not responsible in keeping students trapped in a failing system. I work for Los Angeles Unified, close to the worst of the worst. Our Dem Mayor wants to get involved in the district and has been blocked by the board and the union- big mistake I say. There is the usual bureaucratic BS of the board and wasted money, but ultimately the failing education system is controlled by the state and fed gpovernments. Our union demanded and received reduced class sizes for our high schools and middle schools. Our union may not be the best, but they are not the reason our education system sucks. As Bill Mahr said yers ago regarding Gore and Bush- I'd rather be in the pockets of Buddhists than big oil.
