Does anyone know an awesome vacation destination that hasn't been overdone? I'm talking a really cool vacation place, not necessarily expensive, ( but those ideas are welcome too)....but not Carnival cruise line, Sandals, Disney, stuff like that. Please Share...

If you like rollercoasters go to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. The Top Thrill Dragster is simply the best ride ever constructed. You're launched 0-120mph in 4 seconds....amazing! www.cedarpoint.com

Cedar Point is da bomb! 8) One thing I miss from Ohio. I lived only 2 hours away and would go there 2-3 times a summer.

I've never been out of this country SF and don't plan on it, but if I did it would be to England and Scotland.

As for vacations in this country what do you like to do? Colorado is fabulous if mountains are your thing. Estes Park is beautiful. If you're into fishing/boating/watersking/water type stuff there's a nice quiet place called Land Between the Lakes in western Kentucky that my family used to enjoy. We're sort of scattered around the country and we would meet there for a week or so in the summer.

I know we live about 3.5 hours away and try to go at least once a summer. How far away do you live now?

Well it'd still make for a fun summer time trip for you to escape the sweltering July heat in Florida. Ever ride the Dragster?
It's 16 seconds you'll never forget!

Oh, and if you're into history and such there are some pretty cool things to do here in good ol' Virginny. Williamsburg, Jamestown, Carter's Grove, Monticello, Mt Vernon, and then there's also DC and the Smithsonian. I did the Smithsonian thing last week and loved it. My son-in-law took my pic standing under the space shuttle Enterprise. Image

Nope, never rode the Dragster. I've been in Florida since '85 and the last time I was at Cedar Point was '91 or '92 when I went back up to visit. The best rollercoaster they had then was the Magnum XL.

You could come join me over in Iraq this summer!
You like "sandy beaches", we'll have lots of sand.
You like 4-wheelin'??? You ain't been 4-wheelin' until you
went tearing around the counrty in a full military-grade Hummer
with the standard machine-gun mounted on top for fun :)
It's DEFINITELY not a huge tourist attraction so privacy will
be no problem. All you have to worry about is that some of locals
aren't too friendly and the occasional mortar/IED threat :D

Let me know if you're interested! I could probably hook you up with
a 35 lbs. Flak Vest that matches your bathing suit
Welcome to Terminus... You hungry?

ugh, the magnum's specs are 205 ft high, 60' drop and a top speed of 72mph. You have to ride the Millenium Force. 310 ft high, 80' drop and a top speed of 92mph. The dragster launches you 0-120mph in 4 seconds then carries you up a 420 ft hill and drops you straight down reaching 120 mph again, all in like 16 seconds. The Magnum is a kiddie ride now :D

Liz, I thought you made a commitment to take up arms? Talk the talk but wont walk the walk yourself? Yet us "liberals" are the ones that you consider too "scared" because we disagree with being there? Oh yeah...I dont have the "sac" that it takes.....looks like you dont either. Wouldnt want you giving up those cocktails and nice bathrooms. Send the men off to do it, right ? and you sit back and enjoy those cocktails. 8)

um, yeah, so anyway. of course people here travel, out of the country even. But I've never cared for travelling, just because my friends are doing it.

I prefer to travel to certain spots and frequent them now as an adult. I did the whole travelling around the U.S. thing when I was a child. Now that I'm an adult (in age anyway), I have a passport that get's used as frequently as we can afford to use them, even if it's just going home to visit family.

I hear Tiajuana has a nice donkey show. I've never been, but I like horses so how bad can a donkey be?

Kids, if I have to turn this car around...

People making sacrafices and people having differences have nothing to do with this thread. Why do people have to start a fight because someone was offended about a military thingy. Why does a thread about vacations turn political and military? Geezus!

It all depends of what do you want to do on a vacation...Relax,as in being lazy-having cocktails-enjoying the silence, etc. or discovering, having some noisy fun, meeting people,etc...Destinations would be different.Plus you have to have a budget and choose according to it.

New York is cool as hell. But expensive as ALL hell. However,a short trip would be worth it,if you like a cosmopolite city...The flavor of all five continents. 8)

Personally,I'm in love with San Francisco and Los Angeles, too.
Concrete & steel mixed with Ocean & beaches.Nuff said.

The perfect vacation is on an island,of course! Not much of a help...I know!

Okay, I'm not a huge traveler except for cruises (and an occasional Journey concert), but I spent 1 day in San Francisco earlier this year and absolutely loved it. I can't wait to go back someday and see everything, since one day is not enough. If you've never been there, it's a great city. I heard "wine country" outside of there is beautiful too, but didn't get to see it yet.

I can't see your PMs nor do I care too so
I got no homework to do on you. I know your style already.
And where was she "out of line with you"???
In another thread or in a PM?
Then leave it in that other thread or to PM.
Why bring it up in this thread?
