Back to the subject though, how can anyone listen to that song and say he had lost his voice? It's just, simply perfect.

As I was watching that clip, I thought the EXACT same thing. What I will say, however...is that it seems like he has trouble remembering some of the words. Anyone else notice that? :?

Steve Perry's voice is as good as ever. All he has to do is have one. His specialty was emoting songs. At first he was a "high-flyer" with notes, then he mastered his art and found his true, all-around greatness from Frontiers to ROR...not so much TBF because I don't think his heart was ever truly into that album.

Ok, I need to say something, and it is NOT of opinion, but of fact.

He( Perry), cannot sing anylonger. I am sorry, and I DO love you SJ, but you really need to let this go.

I love Espee as much as the next guy, but no, he can't sing anylonger. Believe me, it hurts me to say this, and it is not of my opinion as I've said, but of others in the industry....and no, I am not citing sources.

I'm not sure about the 'as good as ever' part of SJ's statement. But...I definitely agree with the emoting part. I believe (based on nothing but my desire to believe it) that he does still have the heart to do it. And I believe we will see something from him again. I'm holding out hope for it anyway...

I respect your stance and that of others too. I simply choose not to believe that if he put his heart into a project that it couldn't be pretty fuckin' good. Maybe a different genre of music or some covers. The guy has some gas left. How much is anyone's guess.

I could be 180 degrees out here, but I think Perry has lost his voice and he knows it. He knows he's wanted, yet he does nothing.

That's certainly the general concensus, but some of us are hoping that it's not the case. I definitely don't believe he's lost his voice. Some of his 'heart' maybe. Only time will tell.

I think that he's lost his desire or that he's not good enough in HIS mind...or both. I heard a somewhat isolated vocal of his GUFF recording, and while not an expert, thought it was outstanding.

Again, you know I love ya, and if I ever get my radio show, I am hiring you the first day, BUT, your stance you have now...I used to feel that way. However, I have discovered the actual truth. I am sad, but you will never hear from Mr Perry again, and I am as sad as the next person, but that is fact.

That means the last recording we'll hear from Perry is his contribution on "I Can See It In Your Eyes" with Guff? That would be depressing.

Why can't you Loons accept his retirement?

Michael Jordan did it. He is the greeatest player ever.
Wayne Gretzky Did it. He too is the greatest player ever.

Steve Perry is done. He is the greatest singer ever.

Why the Hell can't you accept that?

If anything, you are holding Journey back. Let them go forward.

I hear ya.. For me, this has nothing to do with Journey. Just Perry. And, he may well have stopped at the top of his game. I'm ok with that.

How are we holding Journey back? Hell, I've been to 3 concerts in the past 6 months, and am getting ready to go to the 4th. I've been very supportive of everything they've done and are planning to do (except re-recording the GH).

Steve Perry was such a huge part of Journey, and music in general. Why is it so wrong for us to reflect on that and hope that he will sing again someday?

Who wouldn't want to see MJ or Gretsky back out there again, just one more time...?
