Liar.
I posted in it.
You like to tweak Andrew for being "biased" at every turn.

What purpose could there POSSIBLY have been to bring that thread up here other than to imply "A Perry fan's thread about Perry was closed. The HUMANITY, the censorship, the unFAIRNESS of it all."?

Your obscuring the fact that it wasn't closed b/c it was about Perry or anyting Nora said.

Although this thread's original topic had nothing to do with SP or with him wanting or not wanting to record,it got there again... :|
Anyway, this made me remember some things he said...Perhaps he wants to do something, but he can't decide.
I believe he was honest when he said this in Lafon's interview:

SP:"I've got all kinds of stuff written. Writing isn't a problem, it's..."

ML: It's not stage fright at this point in your career?

SP: “ No, it's just what do I want to do? I love R&B. I love rock. I love techno. I love remixes. I love acoustic. I love everything. When I come up to LA, I'll spend two days watching someone record 172 pieces of score. I sat back a year or so ago and watched Alan Silvestri conduct a 175 piece orchestra for Van Helsing (movie). So, when I watch that kind of arranging... I love the power of that. So, I just don't know what to do, but I'll probably jump in the studio with a four-piece section and just start having some fun and maybe do some covers just to get my feet wet.”

In another interview he said :"I’ve never stopped writing or recording music,I’ll always have that burning within me."

I'm not trying to find him excuses, not at all,it's just that I'm listening to what he has to say.
IMO,a recording Perry is not a matter of will, but a decision about what kind of music should he do.One thing he said he wouldn't do...LOL

"I don't want to sit there and (sings) 'start spreading the news...' I don't really.”

Anyway,it seems to me that it's like having to decide which car to drive from a choice of ten equally great cars.Takes time to decide.

SP: “I may do a comeback album or I may do one track; load it onto ITunes and go home. I don't know.”

Now back to tennis.

Just for clarification, I didn't read that whole thread, I ONLY read what Nora posted, "the link" that is it, I was "only interested" in what she posted about Perry. I totally skipped everyone else's post,, so NO I don't know who else posted in the thread and don't care.

Secondly, let's get something straight, Don't put words in my mouth that I DIDN'T say, and also that I NEVER implied towards Andrew. , it is YOUR very poor misguided perception that is way off base.

I only made an observation on how we are all tired of wating and how the "SP fans" get called "loons" for doings so. Yet you sit here waiting for Journey too now wouldn't that make you a loon also? Anyhow you redpa13 felt compelled to make something bigger out of it. Hey if it makes you feel better by all means carry on........

Hey, Mercury.

When, exactly, did "Johnathan" Cain deliver that quote that you are attributing to him, anyway? :|

JSS wrote:Quick reply...I just demo-ed Wings Of Freedom yesterday but unfortunately this version won't be heard as it's more a work tape for us all to learn from in rehearsing it next week...as well, it's basically a drum program, keyboard bass, keys done by Jon & Neal on guitars, not the full band. It sounds killer if I might say so, a testiment of what's to come. It's starts off kinda like When You Love A Woman but it's not a traditional Journey ballad, especially lyrically.

As far as new stuff, when, where, how, etc., Think about it folks....we toured literally until late Nov, got done with enough time to spend with our families for xmas, Jan, Neal/Jon & I did the ARF thing, Neal & I did the NAMM thing, then we did the Walmart thing, then we did the Florida/Mardi Gras thing, then we did Europe until late March. Next week we leave for VA & 3 days after that, I leave for 3 weeks to tour with Talisman....you can say we are busy boys! It's JUST over a month after we got back & yes, we needed a little break to get recharged for the writing, which now one is knocked off for the gig next week.

If you look at the spectrum of time, the burnout factor of touring & where we're at time-wise, we'll be at full swing writing by late June, probably recording by Fall & album out by early next year.

:)

Anyone who understands the art of writing and composing great music knows it takes time and dedication from the artist. The band has proven this to us in the past and anyone who knows JSS knows that he ALWAYS delivers! :D So, let's be a little considerate of time...after all they have been out there touring!

Jon was misquoted. He actually said "people don't recognize Milli Vanilli as Milli Vanilli without Vanilli singing". He never referred to Steve.

Dude, Journey concerts have been pretty much the same for years. I'd rather the band got off the friggin road and actually wrote some new music. I'm sick of "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin" and "separate ways".
Whatever... I'd rather hear a new album than yet another greatest hits tour...
Also, when Soto joined, we kept hearing about how they already had stuff in the can.

Sorry, just impatient for new stuff.

I love it....UR are truly a first class DICKWEED!!!!!

Did you not just READ, not hear so you could have gotten it wrong in some way, but READ what JEFF SAID!!!!!

You're the reason that I hate 90% of Journey fans....Nothing is ever good enough for them. Steve didn't post over at BT, boy, whas he a DICK. Jon called all the Pery heads fucking psycho's....BAD MOVE and the band has been going non stop since last summer and YOU WANT SOME MATERIAL....Here's an idea DICKWEED, They are re-releasing all the albums with live and TIME3 shit on them.....Go to Ghetto-Mart with your Stryker shirt on and buy them all and listen to them....Maybe by them Jeff's voice will be rested enough to start to YOUR satisfaction of course......Take the medicine....Go buy soe records and get a life.....DICKWEED!!!!

Hey screw off. I'm saying I'm tired of the old stuff. I want new stuff. The way that Journey was talking a few months ago, they already had stuff in the can.
They said that, I didn't. I guess that was just to pump the "new singer hype" so the Augeri fans would shut up. I'd much rather have a new album than to see Neal play the Whose Cryin' Now guitar solo for the bazillionth time. I want the band to evolve and put out new tunes.

"Steve didn't post at BT"????
What the heck are you talking about? Nobody mentioned that.

By the way, Augeri did post when he first got in the band on BT. In fact, most of them did if I recall.

Because I want to hear new stuff I'm a dickweed??? Hey, the dickweeds are the ones who keep supporting greatest hits tours and buying reissues of the same old songs. If people are buying the old shit in droves, why would they do anything new?? Oh, by the way, I just let Steve Perry's marketing plan out of the bag.
Screw you. This is NEAL F'ING SCHON, JON CAIN, AND JEFF SOTTO. 3 pretty friggin' prolific writers there. There are lesser artist who put out more stuff. There are greater artists that put out more stuff. I'm not knocking the band, I'm just impatient and I admit that. But you're just a dick period. Save the weed. You're just a dick. I did read Sotto's post. Maybe when the band gets done with their other committments they'll get back to Journey. It'd be nice if they put all the outside stuff out to pasture and focused solely on making Journey THE band it should be. By the way, I'm not one of the 'fans' that constantly knocked Generations. I dug that album as I've dug everything the band has done EXCEPT for the reissues. They're not the friggin' Beach Boys... They are a majorly prolific songwriting team. The fact that it takes so long for these virtuosos to produce a new album's a drag.
Piss off.

First of all, it's Soto with one 'T', 2nd, I never said we had the album written, just that the ideas were churning at soundchecks....we usually don't complete/write full songs at soundchecks, they're ideas that come from jams that we store into our brains/data banks & revisit at another time when our brains aren't consumed with 'soundchecks/meet n greets/set changes/long bus rides, etc., If I mentioned we had an 'abundance' of material, it was meant more in the pot of ideas, not full songs ready to release next week :)

In due time, good songs take time to flourish & nurture, like pets or children, never really formed out of the shoot!!

Now, I'm all worked up over some fucking ying-yang that expects a band to put an album out in three months.....And BE SERIOUS about it!!!!
e-

Your tolerance for idiocy is amazing. And to think I haven't fucked with you YET. Anyway, the mere fact that you take the time to respond to dickheads like this guy shows how grounded you are. Jeff, pull a Schon and "de-ground" yourself til after the new album. It's simply not worth it. You KNOW were you're welcome.

I'm bored with the band and their whole deal.

I wanna hear something NEW.

By all means after a great and busy tour of the UK and a show coming up next week, let's expect Jeff to belt out a studio album and fuck up another voice....Folks like you are fucking priceless....MORE, MORE, MORE....Get Some, MORE, MORE, MORE......Go read a fucking book and wait till fall. Or take extra medicine to make time go faster.....

e-

Dude, Journey concerts have been pretty much the same for years. I'd rather the band got off the friggin road and actually wrote some new music. I'm sick of "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin" and "separate ways".
Whatever... I'd rather hear a new album than yet another greatest hits tour...
Also, when Soto joined, we kept hearing about how they already had stuff in the can.

Sorry, just impatient for new stuff.

Hey, it's late, I misspelled your name. Sorry! I've had Bryan spelled "Brain", "Briyan", and "Brian"- NOT a big deal, but sorry about that. YOU never said that about the album. Neal did mention "in the can" a long while back. It's not a big deal. I don't realistically expect Journey to do an album every three months. But I WOULD like to see them get off the road and do the album that they were meant to do. I WAS speaking more of demos, but if there are great demos that you get a good feel from, I would imagine that Journey could hit a studio ANYWHERE and come out with something decent. Neal's a decent producer as is Cain.

I meant no disrespect to you or Journey- I've totally admitted that I'm impatient, but I can't believe that creative guys like Journey would rather be on the road than the studio. I guess, as you've read, that makes me a dickweed. Oh well. I'd rather be a dickweed waiting for new material than a dickweed waiting in line and paying over 50.00 to hear the same live tunes I've heard since the Departure tour. (That comment is meant more for the douche bag that chose to attack me than it is aimed at anybody else in Journey or this forum".)

Cheers, have a good night.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

The problem *I* with the above is that we have been 'led to believe' (not directly by the band) that you and the band have been writing almost since the moment you joined the band, that you guys had a traveling studio with you during the tour...and you were doing much more then just compiling ideas.

What you say above is nothing new to anybody who knows how Journey writes songs. Neal and Jonathan have both talked about doing the above many times, as has Allen Craft...not that it didn't need to be said again. Recording a jam session to capture a magic moment is NOT the same as 'songwriting', which is what this forum was implying was happening.

You're right...creating Journey music on tour is not an easy thing. So, you tell me, when is Journey going to take enough time off in the next six to eight months to write, record, produce, package, and burn a new CD? If you guys have not even STARTED that process, it's not going to be available until next summer, at the earliest. If it IS available sooner, quality is going to suffer in one area or another - IMO.

Jesus fucking christ, give the guy a break. He's only been the singer - officially - for like 6 months.
The tour just ended. Y'all were expecting a double platinum album by Easter?

Allow me to handle this one, Jeff.

Princess, what the fuck are you babbling about? When are they going to take time off? What the fuck are they doing this year? They had a 3 week jaunt over in Europe-....done. They have ONE scheduled show this year. You don't think they would consider getting together and recording in say, 7 of the "other months left" do you?

No one said they had songs in the can. I believe Jeff said the other day and I will paraphrase, "we are going to get a shitload of tunes done, around 20-30 and pick from those, not just record 10 songs and call it good. They want, and more importantly need a kick ass CD. Doing something along the lines of REO's latest could be done by these guys in a weekend between playoff games. It will be a jewel, and it will be out a Helluva lot sooner than Summer 2008, I can guarantee you that.

Monker, you have lost your way. You simply are not informed and your guessing is about as good as Ray Charles qualifying Expert on the shooting range, or Herbie Herbert looking down and seeing his own dick. You need to go back to Iowa, and walk into one of those Tornado's path. Just end it already dude. And stop showing your face in my morning shits, I am getting sick of flushing you down my toilet.

Hey, I'm just going by what was said months ago about "stuff in the can" and I'd rather not have another greatest hits tour...
The stuff in the can comment wasn't something I made up. It was a Neal quote. Jeez, I can't believe how some people have freaked out, not to mention taken personal shots at me because I want to hear new stuff. Nobody said anything about Easter. Nobody said anything about "Double Platinum". Nobody slammed the band. Whatever.

Yeah, "Officially" the new singer for 6 months, but in for a lot longer than that as everybody here knows.
If I was in Journey and had the new energy of a new singer, I'd be chomping at the bit to do new stuff. I certainly wouldn't be chomping at the bit to go play "Any Way You Want It" for the millionth time.

I guess I should just get in line for yet another Fawning Post, they are so rare...

"You guys are so great and I LOVE NEAL'S PURPLE SHIRT!"

What, are we Back Talk now???

Okay, time to go!
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
