Steve Perry is/was an awesome talent and while he has every right to be "retired" I do wish he would come out and say so instead of fans clinging onto hope that he will tour or even come out with a new album. And while there were probably more than just Perry's ego in Journey to be concerned about, he did have the keys to the band during the 80's and he really did hang cuff the band. If he didn't want to tour and put out new music with Journey, there was no Journey at all. I believe Neal and the gang did the right thing by moving on if Perry didn't want to give his full support to the band (touring behind TBF and more albums beyond.) If Neal and Jon didn't find a way to keep the Journey alive, we wouldn't be talking about them today. But, I can imagine everybody, Jeff Scott Soto included, would not have objections to Steve coming back to the band if he chose to do so. I think Neal and Jon would probably bring him back - under conditions of course. I do feel slighted that we didn't have more of Journey through out the late 80's and even into the 90's, but I'm thankful for the music they did give to us, and I'm thankful for them moving on and making new music. I am excited about this new direction with Jeff, because Jeff is an awesome talent and has all of us excited about Journey again. Yes, Perry probably is a head case, but this isn't anything new with frontmen (minus Jeff and a handful of other frontmen and women.) But, I'm ready to move on with where Journey is at today and if Steve gives us something new....great! If not, I'll continue listening to Street Talk and FTLOSM...and his stuff with Journey.

The fact of the matter is that no one dumping on perry is jealous. I think I speak for most when I say that he went out in a rather shitty way. There's a way to say goodbye when you leave someone's house. You go up to the host, you say thank you for having you and you leave through the front door. I sorta equate Perry's departure along the lines of showing up, being the life of the party, for a few hours, going into the bathroom pulling a double decker on the toilet (shitting in the upper reservior), pissing on the bathroom rug....walking into the kitchen, jamming his hand into the yet-to-be served cake and coming up with a huge handful....walking out the back door never saying goodbye to anyone...and while walking out the back door, he lets the host's dog out...and the dog gets hit by a car as he whipes hiscake stained hands on the car seat of the owner's car....and walks away never to be seen again.
