Schon and Perry compliment each other like peanut butter and jelly. They're the greatest combination in music history. They were simply meant to work together. Steve Perry is also one hell of an all around artist and he is the best I've heard at emoting a song. His voice simply has some resonance that sings through you, rather than at you.
Now for Steve Perry the person. For the better part of 20 years he has played cat and mouse with the band and their fans. He constantly sidesteps difficult questions with ambiguous answers. Furthermore, he leaves the door open enough to make sure there is enough speculation as to not let the band establish a new identity. It'll be difficult enough for the band to ever do that as it is, but Perry pops in JUST enough to make SURE it never happens. He's an egotistical prick that acts like a little kid in that because HE can't go on, he does everything in his power to make sure the band doesn't. That's adolescent bullshit. This shit would never fly with ANY other fanbase. He's lucky there are enough middle-aged women to fawn over his fake ass. He simply can't do anything wrong in their eyes. I simply choose to call a spade a spade.
PS Styxman, I ever see you...there's gonna be a problem. Not a threat, a promise.
PSS Strungout, you're MORE than welcome to "slap my ass." In fact, you're invited.

St.John.
It's not only middle aged women who respect Perry for the person he is or was. He and the band were just something that happened and only happens once. For some people, that's just a once in a lifetime event.
I believe that he gave Journey all he had. I believe that Augeri gave Journey all he had to give. It's a voice, not something that can be replaced when over used. If the guys in the band didn't prepare for a future without Perry, after all those years, that is their problem. Since when is bad investments, drugs and divorce a frontmans responsibility to his bandmates.
They brokeup in 83, added a little fluff with ROR and reunited for a great album, for most people anyway, with TBF. He didn't want to make music everything in his life and didn't want to be a rock&roll casuality. So far he has accomplished all of this and if he is not at all positive that he is finished with singing, he shouldn't state that he is. If he has nothing to say that he wants to put into a song, that's his perogative.
He has not left anyone hanging. He probably doesn't know anymore than we do, just what tomorrow will bring.
He has not held the band back. Augeri fans will tell you this is not so. Soto fans will tell you this isn't happening.
If what you are posting is frustration, then it's pretty sad that you have to stoop so low to show it as you do.
