You might be surprised, after seeing some of his early movies, he has played some pretty off the wall characters and pulled them off. Like Fear and Loathing, Crybaby, etc. Extremely versatile actor. Throw a mustache, some prominant caps (teeth), cut his hair and I totally can see him pulling it off, especially his flamboyant stage presence. Jonny acting, Jeff's vocals.

Agreed.I can see Depp doing it.Make-up,huge acting skills, rocker's heart,he's got it.However,Freddie's original recordings would give authenticity to the whole story.
Jeff sings his songs wonderfully, but the movie would need Mercury's unmistakable timbre.JMO.

Cohen is incredibly talented and, I believe, versatile enough to do the role.

But for months, I've been hearing Eric McCormack's name (WILL of "Will and Grace") in connection with this film. That may seem a bit shocking at first, but if you think about it for a minute, he'd be a pretty good choice...and the boy can sing like a mo fo!

I hope that they get him for the role. He would be perfect, imo.
