My husband is recovering from a tendon injury in his left index finger right now. He severed the tendons and did nerve damage while fixing machinery. Several years ago he almost lost a finger in a grinder. THAT recovery was easier than this one! However, he cannot bend the finger from the old injury and he should have almost full mobility after he finishes physical therapy for this one. He was in a hard cast up to his elbow with his hand bent inwards for the first week. He has a VERY high tolerance for pain, and he said his wrist was killing him. He was going to cut the cast off himself because he couldn't stand it anymore, but I told him I wouldn't speak to him again if he did! As much as it's a pain in the ass, you have to stick with the treatment. My husband has had so many injuries in the past that are now coming back to haunt him because he didn't get them treated when they happened.
