Yup...that's what I said a while ago.... :?

I saw a TV Concert of Kenny Chesney last year; from some of the overhead-helicopter shots of his concert ~ at a SOLD OUT FOOTBALL ARENA ~ you'd SWEAR you're watching "Frontiers & Beyond" footage!

As far as the ACMs last night, I watched it...and I am a huge fan of country music. To even suggest that some of these artists are 'made in the studio' when they are as stripped down, musically, as they are...is ludicrous. For every suggestion of such idiocy, I'll give you 2-3 aor/hard rock studio fabricated artists....

It seemed to me that there were serious problems with the monitors last night...as there were a handful of very talented artists that had trouble remaining on pitch. Tim McGraw is not a very technically goodsinger to begin with....so to judge the rest of them based on his performance is just asinine. Brad Paisley sounded rather bad last night, but Brad has more raw singing and guitar playing talant than just about anyone.....if you can't hear your voice, you have a tough time singing on pitch. plain and simple.

These award shows are rough...we're talking 10-15 different stage setups and teardowns, each artist brings a portion of his/her live setup with him/her....and the producers/engineers pull their hair out trying to get every artist to sound good.

You'd do better judging these artists individually, either through their own concerts or recorded works...than to try to judge them based on an awards show that is an engineer's nightmare.

Actually, um...no.

It's a common miss-use of the English language. The original phrase contained the negative...but it was dropped over time by people far too lazy or uneducated to include it...and a common explanation (i.e. excuse) for such bad use of the English language is "I was being sarcastic". The sarcastic delivery associated with it is something that was added by people *after* the fact of disputing the phrase's incorrect use. The sarcasm is most definitely a result of the debate, not evidence to support a side.

Using the phrase without the negative makes you sound uneducated. The phrase *with* the negative was around far longer than the dropped-negative version.

The phrase containing the negative is grammatically correct and held as such by almost every well-known scholar of the English language.

COULD CARE LESS

COULD NOT CARE LESS

Clichés are especially prone to scrambling because they become meaningless through overuse. In this case an expression which originally meant “it would be impossible for me to care less than I do because I do not care at all” is rendered senseless by being transformed into the now-common “I could care less.” Think about it: if you could care less, that means you care some. The original already drips sarcasm, so it’s pointless to argue that the newer version is “ironic.” People who misuse this phrase are just being careless.

I'm not a big fan of country music in general, but I love Vince Gill and have been buying his music since his Pure Prairie League days. I don't like all of his stuff - especially the hardcore country songs, but he's a fabulous singer, musician and songwriter. And amazing live. There are many talented people in country but obviously that is not everyone's cup of tea (or beer).

You know of my name song then, Jerene.
I think it's pretty neat that not only do I have
a unique name but that there is an actual song out
there with this title.

They've also come to the realization that they no longer have the voices to hang in rock. They're simply going down to Triple-A. WARNING: Not a fuckin' word about Perry, NIG :x Don't mention Hagar or JBJ in the same breath as The Voice.

Hagar can still bring it. True about BJ, though. But his voice does suit country. And Sammy's whole lifestyle makes coutry a perfect style for him to dabble in.

Agreed, NIG. Saw Sam last summer and he totally still has the chops.

And agreed Deano- VInce is the man! He and Amy were smooching on the jumbo tron at the last PREDS game I went to.
As for Tim McGraw, I read a piece in the Nashville Scene about two years ago that totally busted not only HIM, but his WIFE for all the...ahem..."vocal enhancements" they use live. Faith Hill apparently can't stay on pitch to save her life, and McGraw just simply has no "real voice" at all...I still dig some of his songs, though.

And I think the key word with Garth is "lately" in terms of his voice. Garth always had really strong pipes back in his heyday, but look how much he toured...and those painful rock and roll screams he used to do- my guess is he just ragged himself out. Now you wanna talk about a TRUE singer, and someone who pointed out in the same SCENE article that she has never used pro tools a day in her life? MRS Garth, Tricia Yearwood. EXCELLENT voice (though her material is spotty at best!) If Nashville could find a way to match the good material with the good voices, we'd be in business.

Oh, and RASCAL FLATTS just FLATT out suck, imho...to me that's everything wrong with Nashville in one neat little package.

"or beer".. Good one, Lora!

I love Vince, he has a beautiful tenor voice..loved him during his Pure Prairie League days too. Have you seen the Christmas show he and Amy put on? Just outstanding!

I live in Nashville but I'm not a big country fan; however, I do like some of the newer acts like Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chestney, Keith Urban and Toby Keith. Absolutely hate the Chicks and Martina, but who cares..right?

When it comes to country, I like it pure old fashioned country..Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard..yep, I'm a hick. And now I'm off to see who's booted off Idol..check y'all later.
