It seems that every so often one of the posters will drop a clue that they:

a. Play in a band;
b. Play an instrument or two or three;
c. Compose songs and play;
d. Have completely no musical talent, knowledge and are tone-deaf (isn't that where you can't get the right pitch for a song; sort of like Lucy in I Love Lucy?).

I know Nora, Jeremey, Liquid Drummer, Wally Hatchet, Brywool, I think Jeremy, PurplePlanet10, LFND are in bands but what do you play? Who else? I know I've missed a bunch of you (I'm sorry!) and there are a lot of lurkers, I think. Come, Mana, and tell us about your band, too, won't you? (I am a huge fan of Los Lonely Boys, by the way.)

It would be awesome to me to have a MelodicRock Journey Forum cd with samples of everyone's work on it, what do you think? Or maybe a list of everyone's bands on one of the t-shirts Andrew is thinking about doing. Too dumb? (Don't hurt me.)

Please don't drive this thread into the ditch anyone. I also hope that there might be some activity on my thread, but it too could go on life support, I guess (**sigh**).

Nancy

P.S. Speaking as a "d," I don't consider it to be a real loser option because we make THE BEST fans in the world and SOMEBODY has got to be the fan. See you all later...

This is a great thread. I'm a 'd' also. I've got a decent ear for music, just not the patience or maybe ability to learn it. I've got a guitar that just sits in the closet.
I like the idea of a Melodic rock CD('s) of all of the good folks here playing on it. I think it would fly. I may not have the talent to play on it, but I might be able to make some copies of it for people or something like that. I would like to do my part in some way.

I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I'm a singer - been singing for about 20 + years. Trained clasically for about 4 years. Have done many musicals. Actress for same amount of time although I do much less of it now. Now, I am more involved with interpreting Theatre/Music for the Deaf.
But ironically I am recording a CD for my son now. A gift to him - he's only 6 so I'm sure he won't appreciate it until he's 30 or 40.. now he will just think I am a dork! :)

Sounds like a great idea.

Right now most of my stuff just exists as rough Garageband tracks with no vocals. I've been meaning to buy a decent mic so I can start finishing up a few songs, but we're expecting a child soon so that's been taking up all of my free time. Maybe one of these days I can finish one or two up for you guys and gals.

I am a,b,and c! I currently sing in an 80's Tribute band called The Reagan Years.
Play guitar and keys, and have written and performed original music in the past.

Check out our website here-www.thereaganyears.com
Check out our soundclips here-http://www.thereaganyears.com/sounds.html

There are 3 singers in the band, and I sing on tracks 1,2,5,6 and 7.
Our drummer and female keyboardist sing on the other tracks.

Wouldn't work. Only HERE in THIS medium, WITH Avatar...those are all requisite elements to the comedy. 'swhy I TOLD you, if you ever do a standup gig, you should just stand there with an overhead projector, a laptop, an MR linkup and scroll the posts. I'd show up and roar. :)

I think I would qualify as a "D"(and not cup either)although I DO sound just like Pat Benatar in my car! I played the flute once long ago and can bang a little on the drums if pressed, but I like the side I'm on now...PLAYING the music for the masses.

I used to play keys and sing in a band, many moons ago. :) I do still dust off the old keyboard every once in awhile to jam with a friend of mine that plays guitar, as well as with my son, who is still learning to play guitar.

Hi All,

www.cdbaby.com/ericnelson

I sing, write all the music and lyrics and play rythmn guitar on the cd.

My main influence is John Mellencamp so the music is acoustic guitar based. I have a bunch of great new material for a new cd but I have been pretty inactive lately so I haven't recorded. There's always tomorrow though! :D
