Public Apology

Postby Rockindeano » Fri May 18, 2007 12:24 pm

I would like to take a moment to sincerely publicly apologize for comments made to Manorocks, and also to Andrew. I have said things the past two days that are obviously controversial, but those who know me know I am not a true believer of the words I chose to use. I speak my mind and get so pissed off when I read some things on here, but I can tell you all now, that I will do my best to reign in my temper and choice of words, because I DO love Andrew and do not want to represent is board in a bad light.

Thanks for reading.

Now I am going to to watch the Ducks beat some Wing ass.

As a non-participant and reader of sorts, I think you do not need to apologize for being yourself. I appreciate your honesty and wealth of knowledge. You seem to be a genuine guy and I appreciate that.

Thanks Deano.

As I said directly to you - you can be one funny bugger at times and a lot of people laugh along and also enjoy it when you tell it like it is (at least, as it is from your view point).

That's all fine and I'm not looking to stiffle that....but as you know, there are instances of going well over the line in amongst the other posts and that causes a lot of problems and gives people who don't like you plenty of ammunition to fire back with (and also at me with).

People enjoy your candor and you do contribute a lot to the board as far as opinions and firing up debate. If only we could keep it non-personal and mostly in good fun, then I think everyone will be happier for it.

MR rocks!

Well, a lot of people have said that I'm a Deano suckup or whatever. I don't really care. I think the reason you'll see me sticking up for Deano is that I get what he says. I work in a place where rough language is the norm, so that doesn't bother me. I've been working in that place for nearly 24 years. It's shop talk. Sometimes you have to look through the words to get to the meaning of it. A lot of people see the rough language and they can't get past that, and the meaning is lost. People in this day and age get offended too easily, but it is what it is. Society changes constantly.
So, you can call me whatever you want, but I think Deano is a brilliant poster, and a damn good asset to the board. There are precious few that have the knowledge that he has about Journey and many other bands. Plus, he's one funny dude. He is why I kept coming back when I first came here. Now I'm hooked, and have met some fantastic people as a result. You people are my internet family, and I love being here. Thanks RD, if it weren't for you, I probably would have never gotten hooked on MR.

And yes, I'm writing this stone sober. ;)
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

It's Manarocks not Manorocks. I will accept your apology. BUT you need to watch how you to talk to us. You cross the line too many times Deano. You get pissed when someone does not agree with you. Just chill Deano we all have opinions and we do not have to agree with each one. Yes you were starting to represent the board in a bad light. People respect your opinions when it deals with music and especially Journey. Truce my man :D

I disagree. That is simply your opinion. To me, some racial jokes are funny, as are blonde jokes. There's just a certain line you shouldn't cross.

On a public forum, particularly when a large majority of the people reading or posting do not know the people personally, you can only be judged by the words that you choose to use. When those words include racism, homophobia, and abuse toward women, it reflects not only on the person using the words but on the admin of the board and the people who frequent the board.

maybe it's the a vs. o in spanish, meaning fem vs. masc

I know of Mana, so I don't confuse it, but anyone could easily confuse a letter or two. Let it go already. Andrew's already asked for it to be dropped yet SOME can't.

I don't believe that I said you aren't free to use the words that you want...just that you are judged by the words that you choose to use. If a person isn't a racist why would they choose to speak like one?? What of the freedom of speech that was denied the people who took issue with his remarks??

I'm about to head into my weekend and I can see this thread being 27 pages long by Sunday. So with that I say goodnight....and BEWARE. Any trouble this weekend will NOT be appreciated.
