Album Melding

Postby knox » Thu May 24, 2007 12:24 am

Deano, forgive me for starting another topic, but this one may be a bit more entertaining...

What two albums would you meld, and which songs would you include? Limit of 10 songs.

My Pick: Departure and Escape

Track Listing:

Any Way You Want It
Escape
People And Places
Don't Stop Believin
Stone In Love
Precious Time
I'm Cryin'
Mother Father
Good Morning Girl
Stay Awhile

I melded those two because they are my two least favorite Journey albums. There are still only a handful of songs I like a lot listed.

 Those are the two I'd meld too, but not that track list.

Girl Can't Help It
MOL
Happy To Give
Easy To Fall
Raised on Radio
One More
Be Good To Yourself
Don't Be Down on Me
Trial By Fire
WCTNGOF

Not necessarily in that order.

Mmmm...yea, but that was before I knew Kathleen Turner was a SHIM.

Time exposes certain things, and certain things date and then you have those wonderful subtle effects on TBF, that have just aged IMPECCABLY.
The album came out in 96 and listening to that jungle soundtrack on COTS i'd SWEAR it was at LEAST '97.

Yay, Kevcat!!!!!!!!!

Perfect NIG! The only one I would change would be One More for maybe, If He Should Break Your Heart or Forever in Blue.

I would merge "Evolution" and "Departure".

Majestic / Too late
Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'
Walks Like a Lady
City of the Angels
Any Way You Want It
Sweet and Simple
Departure / Good Morning Girl
Just the Same Way
Where Were You
Line of Fire
Lady Luck

Hey I just bought the Trial By Fire remaster yesterday with the bonus track (yeah, I'm about a year behind). It sounded GREAT, though there's just still too many ballads on there. In my opinion I would have kept only WYLAW, Still She Cries, and Easy to Fall as the only ballads. I posted some variation of this a while back, but I still think had TBF been put on a diet, it could have easily been one of their strongest CDs, perhaps only behind Escape.

1. Message Of Love
2. One More
3. When You Love A Woman
4. If He Should Break Your Heart
5. Still She Cries
6. Can't Tame The Lion
7 Forever In Blue
8. Easy To Fall
9. I Can See It In Your Eyes
10 Trial By Fire

Voila! Perfect 10 song opus! No sleepers! No clunkers!

That being said, I just completely dig where Perry's voice was on this recording. Despite the lung he hacked up during "One More," just complete perfection from all angles. Not his best technical performances, but what delivery.
