Catholocism is a crumbling kingdom.

I say let it crumble, and I will be the first to piss on the dust.

You may think this version of Only the Young was recorded in 1984 or so. But it was 2007.

Prepare to faint, Loons.

Actually...that's a good point, Red. I guess the part I have trouble with is the eternal bit....

Not my territory at all. In Roman Catholicism where I am, it is a combination of blind faith buttressed by the Gospels (all of which have remarkably diverse, sometimes almost contradictory descriptions of many events).

What a thread, btw. Only here.

But Matt that IS the reality. There is no way Perry would be able to pull off the touring Journey does and sound like he did 20 years ago. I think Perry would be better suited vocally for a solo cd (and/or a few shows) then trying to kill himself vocally touring trying to sound like he did 20 years ago (being the perfectionist he is). As much as I would love to go back to the 80s  the magic of Perry/Schon/Cain was a one time thing I don't think it could be duplicated again now. Red has a point, the expectations from most people would be way too high, and anything less he would be thoroughly trashed for. The man is not stupid he knew when to jump off the merry-go-round.

Deb - I said I did accept the reality and I even enjoy the way things are up to a point...but if I'm honest...I couldn't care less about the live shows and would RATHER Perry, Schon and Cain burried the hatchet and got back in the studio. No, it won't happen but given the choice I'd choose a reunion...as indeed the vast majority of Journey fans would, don't you think?

Matt, I am totally torn on that one. I would absolutely love a 'one-off' reunion. But I don't think the longevity would be there at this point. I would rather Perry do something more on his own timetable and enjoy something solo from him and also enjoy the classic lineup of Journey for what it was. I truly believe it wouldn't be the same. And I came to realize I DO enjoy the live shows I was missing. I haven't seen a full live Journey concert yet since May 82, but even that little Loffler's show (crappy soundsystem and all  ) had me excited for a new Journey concert. LOL and totally off-topic here but once you've seen JSS's disco-medley from a few feet away, there's just no turning back.

Maybe but what if they weren't there at all? Then he'd prolly be bashed for that. And I'm not saying that you specifically would Nora because I know you keep your opinions of the other journey singers pretty close to the vest (which I admire).

Incidentally, I got ripped on Frank's old board for praising JSS' ability to dial those up on command (but avoid doing it through whole songs or too much.)

I'll trade in years of longevity for one short blast of a reunion album!

LOL, just like her review of Gens that deano mailed her that time:

"FITH listend to 30 seconds, SKIP AHEAD
TPIYH got through 35 seconds, HEARD ENOUGH SKIP..."

You KNOW you remember that, Nora :D the loons who weren't with us then would cannonize you for that review.

Yeah. And if someone had synched that audio up with a Journey performance vid with Perry, the loons would have come out in droves praising it.

Vaguely...but my recall of the initial review after you having been only able to endure about 2 minutes and 37 seconds total of the 12 songs on offer is much better and fonder.

It was definately funny if loony in a "na na na na na"way. And first impressions, which you gave, are usually like "too much" alcohol: IE: Truth serum.

PS, my god how markedly the power structure of the board has changed since then. Imagine a loon feeling compelled to start an apology thread for prior loon bias. Hell no, now they just fire back stronger and stronger.
No longer knowing their place. :D

That's a classic vintage thread.

NIG's right, about 1/2 way down sure enough the salvos start detonating....Monks vs TNC Me vs TNC, Deano likes Butterfly, HOTS vs Nora (how DARE she aquiesce?!?!) NIG and Deano vs HOTS, ACE launching a quickie.... Dave28, that's like watching a classic All In The Family or something. (dabs at tear).
