OT - Best Tasting Beer

Okay, suppose I was going to try my first beer - what would you suggest?

I have heard Sam Adams is good.
My wife said Miller Lite is one of the better she has tried.

Mixed reviews on Corona and Coors.

Budweiser - that just has red neck written all over it.

So, whatcha got for me?

I wouldn't recommend any of those. I'd suggest going to a local restaurant that has their own microbrews and trying something on tap. Much better that way.

My favorite tasting beer is Corona Light. Next in line would be Michelob Light but I usually end up buying either Bud or Busch Light. My husband stocks the fridge in his shop with Busch Light so that's what is usually around.

Any Anheiser Busch product is a headache waiting happen for me. I love Journey and all, but I can't hang w/ Bud.

the Belgians are decent but Mexico has the best. Corona's like merely the Bud of Mexico, there are MUCH better beers down there beginning w/ Dos Equis and Modello (the Negro Modello is paradise in a beer bottle).

Pabst Blue ribbon (sp?), Stella Artios, Blue Moon are all very good. Blue Moon is an aquired taste so if you get it...put an orange slice in it until you get used to it. (It's a wheat beer...orange brings out the flavor a bit more.

1554, Shiner Bock for dark beers. These are a LOT heavier...DON'T EAT.

Coors Light, Bud Select, Bud Light Miller Lite etc...your choice on this one.

As for Mexican beers...IF you can find it...Indio. If not...I'd just go with Dos Equis (with a lime slice).

The only A/B product that give me a headache is regular Budweiser. I don't know why.

The only imported or exotic beers I've ever tried were at Epcot Center several years ago. We stopped at a bar in every country for that purpose. I don't remember much about how they tasted, but I remember it was fun.

Wonder if el 'bato knows about a little label from Down Under (actually coulda been New Zealand now that I think on it) called Mako? Like the shark. GREAT little Aussie beer I used to buy at a local establishment in the Mannayunk section of Philadelphia, PA.

I'd say right now my number one is Bud Select. Tasty and really smooth. Next would be Bud Light, Fosters, and Busch.

I am partial to Dos Equis but don't drink it very often. Actually, even some Japanese brews I've had aren't that bad.

Anything that is an "aquired taste", though, I have a problem with. That's why I don't drink coffee. If I don't like it when I first taste it, why should I take another drink of it?

Now's a good time to try some lighter, summer beers. Wheat beers and Belgian White beers are great this time of year.

Blue Moon is my favorite beer for this time of year. Very light and crispy with a slight hint of citrus flavor. Throw an orange slice in it and you're set.

I also just went through a case of Saranac's 12 Beers of Summer. It's a nice variety pack from a microbrewer out of upstate New York.

For those of y'all in or around Pennsylvania...if you're ever in Bethlehem..go to a place called Brew Works. They've got some AWESOME beer choices there. (Microbrewery...nothing in there like Coors or any other namebrand stuff)

This is my fave, liquid gold to me.
I rarely get to enjoy it though as it's almost 50 bucks a case here.

Superior from Mexico was our favorite, but it's no longer imported. So now we like Pacifico. It doesn't have the strong odor that Corona does. We did a blind beer testing, one Superbowl weekend, and that was the most noticable charateristic of Corona.

Can't say that I would recommend any budweiser or miller brand - too watery. Belgians are good if you like wheat beer, German beers can be an acquired taste, Canadian beers are good too - you can try Labatt Blue - good light one to start out with.
