Survivor Featuring Jimi Jamison

Please say it isn't so. Is Jamo touring again as Survivor featuring Jimi Jamison? I hope not. Take a look:

Red you know this chaps my hide. It's not right. Memphis Plasma is not Survivor. I have no problem with Jimi touring as Jimi Jamison formerly of Survivor. I just don't like implying that his band is Frankie etc. It may be legal but it sure the shite ain't ethical.

I know, I know bro.
If it IS JJ I dont' like either, but don't rule out that it could be the promotors/venue.

He's not Survivor, though.

For me it looks like that it´s coming from the promoter. Don´t think JJ will perform again as Survivor

Just had a short look on the website of JJ´s Drummer, Pete Mendillo. He just wrote Jimi Jamison for the Wisconsin date. So for me it is definately coming from the Promoter´s side.

I don't even mind Jimi Jamisons Survivor. At least people can distinguish between the two. I personally think Jimi Jamison featuring Survivor doesn't help either party. Your thoughts?

I also think Jimi is strong enough as a solo act to stand on his own merits. He doesn't need to use Survivor. He is an aor legend. Right?

As far as I understood he´s acting as Jimi Jamison Band as for me it´s good. No need for two "Survivor".

He should do what the court ruling allowed him to do :

"Jimi Jamison Formerly Of Survivor" or something like that.

I believe the court ruling was that he is allowed to bill himself as Survivor featuring jimi jamison. The reason for that ruling was the 2 albums that were put out as greatest hits albums called "Survivor featuring Jimi Jamison".
I didn't agree with the ruling and I remember talking to Jim and Frankie about it during the lawsuit, in fact I even gave them a copy of a Jamison show where he was billed as Survivor.

I suppose you mean the " Jimi Jamison Survivor Collection" from 1993 and 1994. Funny thing (or worse thing) was that those releases came from Scotti Brohers which released in 1993 also the 2.nd Greatest Hits Album of the original Survivor members (w. YKWYA and Hungry Years).

LOL I love it!

You guys have to remember that you are diehards, and that the AVERAGE fan who like Survivor in the 80s is not aware of any of this drama and doesn't care about the whole he-said-he-said Frankie/Jimi war or whatever it is. They like High on You or whatever and see that the guy who sang it is playing at their state fair and they go.

I have never had any problem with Jimi co-opting the name Survivor in his promoting himself. He has as much right to it as the courts determined.

If it gets people out to the show, big deal if it's 'official' or not.

My 2 cents on Jamo using the name.

I said it the mid n late 1990's when he did it. I will say it now. THat is just plain fucked!! No singer is the band. At least not for me in 99% of the cases out there. For survivor, Jimi as talented and as big as they got for a minute in the mid 80's with him he wasn't the driving force of the band the songwriters and players were. his voice was amazing for sure but, Peterik and Sullivan were and sully still is the band.

I know not if Jamo was doing that shit on purpose again. But, I would have hoped he'd learned his lesson by now.

He quit the band/was fired whatever the story is. Unless there's new legal matters that we don't know about that allow him or others to use the name to promote themselves I'd gather that he's in the wrong.

Frankie for as far as I know is the co-founder and owner of the name survivor. Unless somethings changed.

It is dead ass wrong and people then don't see who they wanna see. Frankie, Marc, Billy n Chris with Robin are Survivor not anyone else who isn't with the band . nuff said.

I have no ill will towards Jamo and I wish him well. Just I don't like people scamin' off of past bands and the like. As long as he doens't call his band Survivor I will be the first to say "good luck and kick ass bro"!

Hey Monty, do you know how the official judgement was? I only know that they found a solution but not how it was exactly.
