YOU need to get to a Frontiers show.

If they play in DE again, you have NO excuse not to be there.

You don't know what you're missing Joe13. They're great. The next best thing to Journey.

Very glad they added Only the Young and Ask the Lonely to the remastered Frontiers. Only the Young vocals still totally amaze me. :D

The snare sounds much better in OTY remaster. And I've been playing "Ask The Lonely" for so long now, I forgot what the original sounded like! A lot slower than we do, that's for sure...The a capella vox in the chorus of that are killer!!

That chorus is my favorite part of the song. I also love the way the lead vocals come in just a half beat behind the backround in the choruses.

Jeremey wrote:What a great fucking record. By far, my favorite of Journey's catalog, and with the remastering they did last year, it sounds unbelievable! Perry's voice sounds like polished steel on that record. How much of that was natural and how much was effect, I wonder. There seems to be a slight "doubling" effect or just a dash of chorus that adds to the sheen. I found myself even loving "Backtalk" after not hearing it for several years. Smith's drums are unreal in this recording. But the highlight for me was rediscovering the song "Frontiers." It just seems pretty timely with the world's tribulations these days. Anyone giving this gem a listen lately?

Was listening to that song yesterday, but from the original. That song kind of brings me back to the original fusion sound of Journey.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Yea, Captured is the 96 remaster too. I don't get that.

Damn you 13, you've got me tempted to run out and get these re-hashes...after I'd sworn Sony wasn't making another dime off of me for old stuff...unless they reissued the pre-Perry stuff.

I never had any intention of NOT getting them, and for a change I ain't sorry...They're great.

And to another point, no, never see J and Frontiers but I DO have a live album cd of them and it smokes. Remember, I was the first fucking one here who said sometimes J sounds more like perry than perry.

You think that's good.

I picked up the 2007 re-master booklet Frontiers, ROR and TBF for a grand total of £15 from Fopp up here in Glasgow.
