Bad luck, that is.

It was evidently a rather ghastly apparition.

I absolutely believe in an afterlife, because of a direct experience I had with my dad when he passed. I was working a cruise ship at the time, and got a call from my brother that our father had passed (He'd been ill). I was in the center of the ship in one of the lounges with a can of beer and a glass, and my husband(then) was comforting me.

No matter what the seas did before or after, they never caused a reaction like this. My beer can did a perfect 360 -- right in place, not moving around on the table, but as if someone turned it counter clockwise. I said "Hi Daddy"...and it stopped. My dad saying goodbye. Pretty frickin' cool. I've no fear of this stuff. None.

I debated all day whether I should post this. I have had 6 things happen that point to life after death. 4 were at our house and 2 in the strongest reality dreams that I have ever had. In fact, the only 2 ever in 60yrs. These happened in 76-89. In 1979 my father -in- law died at his home across the street. At his house he planted about 1/3 acre and then he would plant our side lot with white sugar corn and red potatoes. He would plow me a small 30x30 garden in our backyard and plant carrots ,peppers.... and I would plant flowers. He would tell me YOU CAN'T EAT FLOWERS. When he was hoeing he'd sit under our tree and drink ice water.A few days after his death,I could feel him out there but not across the street where he died. I dumped his funeral flowers under the tree It got so bad that when Bob got home ,I had to tell him. That night the ball game had a rain delay, so we had the radio on ,also. A garbled voice drowns out both and says " I appreciated the flowers". We never spoke for 20 minutes. We were stunned. On Sat Bob went to get parts for his HVAC business . When he got home I told him his dad wasn't out there anymore. He said pop was in the truck with him and when he came out of the parts house he was gone. I was his contact to his son. Ghosts no, the dead being able to say good-bye YES !!!! Look for it, believe !

Happened to me twice Nora, roses smelled so strong yet none anywhere around!

Smelling Roses--What is the meaning?
Author Fr. Johann G. Roten, S.M.
Date May 19, 2005

People reportedly perceive the fragrance of roses although there are no roses present in a room or house. The experience is frequently related to a spiritual event of some importance. How do we explain this?

The fragrance of roses and the smelling of roses is frequently mentioned in records of mystical experiences. How to explain it?

I am not sure if there is a scientific answer. I haven't seen any, not so far. However, it is a fact that strong spiritual, as well as other mental, activities can trigger accompanying sensory perceptions. The imaginative power, for example the intense thought on behalf of a beloved person, may produce a physical impression and presence of that person. The smelling of roses, being a refined and exquisite sensation, may be the equivalent of a highly-spiritual and, likewise, exquisite experience.

Or it may be the spiritual compensation for a painful spiritual experience. Some mystics are invited to experience the dolors of Christ's Passion. The smelling of roses may be the recompense for this ordeal, or a way of letting them know the deeper life-giving meaning of their experience.

My friend has an amazing story.

His dad died in January of 1992. Six months later to the day, he was thinking about his dad and writing a letter to someone late at night.

The next morning, he woke up and went down for breakfast.. His mom asked him if he kept turning the light on in their bedroom. She kept waking up because the lamp on the side of the bed that his dad slept on kept turning on. He said he never came in the room at all.

Then he told her something funny happened to him, too. He was writing a letter, and noticed that his handwriting looked different. He went and got the letter and showed his mom. She started crying and told him, "that is your father's handwriting."

True story.

I have a similar story to that....oh, and the Grandmother / perfume in question, is Loretta:
Image

When she died, I was a Freshman in College, 1986...I didn't have a chance to see her beforehand. She and I always had a close bond; I felt very close to her. She always told me that looking at me "was like looking at a mirror" of when she was younger. Now, at almost 40, I "see" exactly what she means.

So anyways, my Mom and older sister were in my Dorm room; my sister was a nervous wreck and very upset, and lit up a cigarette in my room. I told her to put it out; we got in a fight, etc...very raw emotions....so, she went outside. The room STUNK of smoke, so I grabbed the first thing I could find, and sprayed it around the room:

....it just happened to be Loretta's favorite perfume.

I left the room, met them outside, said goodbye, and went back into my room. I left the light on when I left the room...

...and it was OFF when I went back in.

I turned the light back on, went down the hall to look for a friend - she wasn't there; I went back to my room, opened the door again...

...and the light was OFF ~ AGAIN.

The girl across the hall, Lynette, was in her room, with the door opened; I asked her if my roommate was back; did she go into our room....she said "no".

SO, I left the room, LOCKED THE DOOR, walked around for a bit, and came back....I asked Lynette if my roommate was back; again, she said no. I opened the door...

....and the light was OFF.

Not only that, but the air had an "electric" feel to it.

Nora, I can definitely see your resemblance to your grandmother

Very cool, Nora. My family had discussions about this topic all weekend. We have seen examples of a loved one who has passed coming back to bring someone who is about to pass to the other side. I saw my Grandmother, in her last days, talk about and to the "people by the ceiling". We could see no one there, but we do not doubt that there were people there to help her pass.

Thanx gal....*sigh*....I miss her so much... :(

I just remembered something else that happened about a year and a half ago:

I had talked about how my cat, Bibi, collapsed and was in tremendous pain and screaming from what turned out to be Hyper-Thyroidism. Mark had to drive us to an Emergency Vet Clinic; I was numb....

Most people who don't "get" animals would probably just give a "" and move on....but I've had her for 11 years; I wasn't going to let her die. So after we brought her there, we came home....it was now after 8 PM, and we still didn't have dinner...so, we sat down to eat, and I looked at her chair that she always sat on to "have dinner with us", and started crying and shaking uncontrollably.

All of a sudden, I saw the figure of a heavier-set woman with dark hair, wearing a brown and white sleeveless, Summer-type dress, just sort of "float" from the right to the left....she appeared in the walkway going towards the Sunroom, which was right off of the Kitchen - in front of me.

I asked Mark if his Mom had a dress like that, and he said he was pretty sure she did.

She died in 1989....was heavy-set, and had dark brown hair.

Okay here is my ghost story and this is absolutely true.

My aunt lived in an old home for years (it was built around 1900) with her husband that was an architect. They were the 4th owners of the house.
For months and months after they moved in every morning when she would come down stairs one of the dining room chairs would have slid across the room to face a wall. She thought it was a prank by her high school daughters.

One day a man came to the door and asked if he could buy the plans to the house and her husband said he would have to go and file for the plans and get back to him. After a few weeks the plans arrived and they sat down together to study them. Where the chair had gone day after day was a fireplace that had been rocked over and filled in.

Many many things happened in that house including a light that would appear and bounce around the room. One night we had all been sitting downstairs talking and it was very quiet, the ball of light appeared and then proceeded to follow us up the stairs into the bedrooms. No lie.
Many people who came to the house over the years also saw a little girl swinging in the backyard willow tree, there were no children anywhere on that street.

Some people from this show were in the city where my husband works not too long ago, filming at some old abandoned house that's supposedly haunted. Not sure if it will ever make it on TV or not, don't know if they caught anything on film. Hubby has been in the house & other than a bird flying out while it was pitch dark & making him & the other cops scream like little girls, he said it didn't seem too weird, lol.

I want to believe in that stuff, but I just have never seen anything that makes me believe it 100% (probably because to be honest that stuff scares the snot out of me). I'd love for my mom to come to me somehow. My daughter looks just like her though.

My 48-year old brother, Jim, passed away in 1995. Several weeks after he died, approximately eleven family members gathered at a neighborhood restaurant for dinner. The servers were kind enough to move tables so we could all be seated together. The only seat that wasn't taken was at the head of the table. After dinner and a lot of "family talk", our server presented us with the bill and we made preparations to leave. My grandson who was two years old came to me and asked where "Uncle Dim" was. I told him that Uncle Jim could not be here, that he had gone to a faraway place. The child was very insistent that he had, indeed, been sitting at the table. Again, we explained to him that his uncle could not possibly have been there. At one point, I asked my grandson where he saw him and he pointed to the chair at the head of the table that had been empty. My brother adored this little boy, and as his father said later, if Jim was going to show himself to anybody, it would have been this child. True story. Over the years, I have had my doubts about others' paranormal experiences, but after what happened at the restaurant that evening, I am a believer.

I've read about that too. Preschool children, for the most part, don't have the filter installed because they haven't had society's accepted reality taught to them yet. The longer they're taught that "there's no such thing as ghosts" the denser their filter becomes.

**GUYS!**

I saw a commerical for a movie, called "1408", starring John Cusack. It's about a man who loses his young daughter, and goes to obsessive, extreme lenghts to contact her.

It's written by Stephen King, so you KNOW it's gonna be scary!

I don't believe in ghosts. I do enjoy watching shows about urban legends/myths and such. Good stuff.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
