Just back from Glasgow........Couldn't fault REO, they knocked out a good set and KC looked in good shape. Back on the Road was a faultless......Best song of the night I thought was Dangerous Combination from the new album......Ridin' the Storm, ended a great night. Just thought some of you would like to know, so don't kick off at me for posting this.

How many new songs did they play and about how long did it last?

I was there too Styxman... got back about an hour and a half ago cos it takes an hour back to Edinburgh on the bus.

I really enjoyed it. Great gig. Also quite amusing... everyone always seems to look at me funny at these gigs cos I'm younger than most of them and have obviously gone there of my own accord since I never have anyone else with me.

I seen REO about four years ago. They put on a great concert then! I wonder how their album is selling? It's a good album.

I'm glad they sounded good in concert. Thanks Styxman and Citygirl for the reports.

I haven't heard the new one either Greggie and also wonder how good it is.

My favorite song off of the new CD is "I Needed To Fall." Classic REO Speedwagon!

That was the one that Kevin talked the most about in Andrew's interview. I'm going to have to start buying a few CDs again.

Guys, I try real hard to support this genre, but seriously, if we need to ride REO's back on the way to respectability, it isn't happening. This new CD is weak; real weak.

They are touring and that's great, but they just are not a leading band.....really disapointing.

Well it's a Journey board so REO don't get a full report  CG, damn, we could have met up. I get what you're saying about the crowd, average age 55ish. Other than our Son, I only counted about three other children and as for Teenagers/up to 30yrs..not many at all.

They played from 8.35 to 10.10pm and without counting about 20+ songs. Was KC singing live, absoloutely! Bruce's voices was pretty fine also.

It wasn't a stand up and scream concert, crowd was partially receptive and front row didn't stand up...never seen that before  They all warmed up when the show was about to finish.

I'm sure CG got excited at the end, when Hitt came on and banged the gongs bare chested at the start of Ridin' One final thing, in the States does KC, always sing that little intro before Time for me to Fly?

T Shirts on and I'm off to work

I'm listening to the new songs as I type (they play in full at their site http://www.speedwagon.com/albums.php)

I dunno, doesn't sound bad,but it's definitely not something to die for. However,I prefer to listen to this kind of music than the radio/chart CRAP played nowadays.
From that point of view,I support any of the good ole bands, even if they're not as strong as they were once.

I think the concept of them not being a leading band comes from their many years of sharing the stage, they held their own last night and although I still haven't bought the new CD, on the strength of last night I will. I'd say REO are back on track and lovin' every minute of it...they couldn't stop smilin' last night...and weren't just going through the motions...I'd say they're back on the road again 2007 style

One thing that surprised me was how small the concert hall really is. The last time I'd been there was seeing Runrig about 10 years ago but I remembered it as being a lot bigger for some reason.

Was also surprised by the number of free seats there were... hardly anyone up in the circle. When I booked my ticket on Ticketmaster a few months back the best I could get was Row R so I kind of thought it was gonna be full but obviously not... great gig though.

As for the support band - not great.

I really like the new CD for a couple of songs on it that I can listen to over and over again. However, I can't do that for the whole CD...but then again, there aren't many bands out there who I can say this about. At least, not the newer stuff. I'll be honest, out of all the melodic rock music that I have purchased since being familiar with this site, the only one I can say that I can listen to the complete CD of is Mecca.

As for REO Speedwagon's new CD, I never really expected much, so going into that frame of mind, I guess I wasn't really disappointed with the CD. At best, I hoped to have a few new songs that I really could listen to repeatedly from the disc, and I got that. But, I do agree with Dean, as far as the CD as a whole, it's kind of weak. What makes it great is buying the Wal-Mart exclusive where you get three CDs....live Hi Infidelity, XM Exclusive CD, and the new CD. I wouldn't buy just the new CD.

Yes, I have that one two plus Unfinished Business. Both are great albums, I actually like Unfinished Business better.

I have seen REO several times over the years. Most have been good shows. Last time I saw them was about three years ago in Biloxi, MS. They blew me away. For a old band, they have more energy than most bands today. Also saw them in New Orleans in 2000, Mobile Ala. 88(?) on their Hits tour, Then in Memphis, TN in 87, 84, and 82. They were not that good when I saw them in 82. Seemed Burned out. Kevin even called Memphis "NAshville" once, then some other city later.
There cds have always been pretty good. I like the new one a lot, even though it is a little wimpy.-ERIC
