Wonder what this is all about

Postby *Laura » Wed Jun 06, 2007 5:06 pm

From Eric Ragno's website:

So I've been working closely with producer Fabrizio Grossi on a new project with a well-known AOR singer. I can't get too much into it, but suffice it to say he is a friend of the extended Journey family. The project is moving swiftly, and the initial response from the first half-dozen songs I've submitted is that it sounds like "the kind of album that Journey should have done 20 years ago". This is a HUGE compliment that I actually hear a lot lately, but hey you know who you're dealing with here.

Maybe Eric himself can chime in.He's an MR member from what I remember. :)

Any thoughts?

He's all over it.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

HAHAHA Sorry Andrew, but I'm actually two projects ahead of you! Good guesses though. :D This blurb from my site wasn't referring to Hugo or Tony, although those projects are both going strong! I was actually referring to "a new project" that involves a friend of our friends...lmao Sorry to seem evasive, I didn't intend to cause this much speculation - especially on the Journey board. Once this one is further along you will be the first to know!

I've been fortunate to work with some great singers, and I'm excited to be working with this latest one, who I've admired for some time. I'm always looking to write and record keyboards for new projects, so tell your friends!

I'm definitely not gonna speculate on that one - remember what I started last time? :D

What is the name of the project with Hugo? I'm interested & would like to keep track... also, nice pic of him on your blog. I get confused - is he also Valentine or rather the singer of?

Probably Johnny Gioeli, seems to be more visible musically since the news broke about the questionable business venture he and Joey were in. Then again, I don't hear his voice fitting the kind of album Journey would do and furthermore he's not exactly a friend of the Journey family.

Hugo is the singer for Valentine, and they are playing Firefest in October in the U.K. He & I were starting work on something new (which would have also featured Josh Ramos) when Frontiers suggested that he sing on the new Ramos album, for which we had just completed the music. It was a remarkable coincedence that surprised all of us! That project is now being referred to as Ramos/Hugo, and he is working on it as we speak.

So it became one of those good news/bad news things, as this new project with Hugo is now on hold until Ramos/Hugo is completed. Until then I am working on some other cool stuff (as mentioned) and continue to WRITE WRITE WRITE. It's a little different when you write with a particular voice in mind, a luxury we didn't have with the Ramos/Hugo disc. But I've heard him sing some melodies over the phone and DAMN.... :D

As for this latest project I referred to in my blog, the singer does not sound like Journey, although some feel that the songs do. And it's not Johnny Gioeli either...man I didn't realize what I had started here, I need to be more careful what I write on my website...

Incidentally I am also featured on the new David Readman album that Andrew wrote about this morning...has anyone checked out the soundclips yet? What do you think?

Hey, at least it gives us something to contemplate with no activity in the Journey camp at the moment.

I for one love hearing about talented musicians getting together and writing real music,so keep up the blog updates - everything sounds cool.

Not sure if this is right, but is that latest project involving the same singer who sang on "Bottom Of My Soul"?Just asking...
If so,he is indeed a great voice.

Good luck with the projects. :)
