I like them too. They just can't sing. Not sure I'd necessarily call Springsteen a frontman though.

Bon Jovi wants to be Springsteen so bad it ain't funny. Ditto Steven Tyler with Jagger.

Something I found today:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bon Jovi was supposed to jump start the return of Unplugged to MTV, but their taping of the show on Tuesday was a complete and utter disaster.
Bon Jovi recorded their Unplugged - which will air cross-platform on MTV, VH1 and CMT - in Brooklyn on Tuesday night for about 400 fans or so and Richie Sambora was blitzed the whole time.

"They had a whole bunch of musicians on stage for most of the night to cover his mistakes on the guitar and would turn his mic off so he couldn't be off key," a spywitness tells us.

Seems Denise Richards' ex-boyfriend was partying too hard before the show!

Towards the end of the show, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie were on stage alone and Jon goes on to tell the story about how they started acoustically at the MTV VMAs once and.... "This is how Unplugged started...."

A shocked source reveals, "As Wanted Dead or Alive started, Richie couldn't play along! During the song Jon stops and makes Richie start again and after the second take was finished the show was supposed to be over but Jon had the whole band come on stage to re-record the song a third time so Richie couldn't mess it up! Jon was clearly upset, but kept it together and handled it like a true pro!"

The folks at MTV will have fun editing this one!

Now wait a minute, why would they have to come back on stage and re-record that 3 times if they're lippers. :P

I remember seeing this on MTV like it was yesterday. I didn't have to defend this talent with certain persons because they were like WOW ! I told my sister in law way back then that this may be the only band whose guitarist is a better singer than than the singer. I really mean they are one on one together. I think Jon has it on the writing/ writing ideas. Proof of talent is - longevity, albums sold and concert revenues. But, make no mistake, Journey was even better w Perry singing, writing and live performance.

I was within 3 feet of him singing at Staples. He was live, at least when he was singing directly into my face. I could hear him.

I gotta see that Unplugged now....doubt it will air though, based on what the front page of MR.com said.

Pulling for Sambora, he can play his ASS off.

I remember the story of how Jon and Richie met. Richie saw Jon's band play a show, and Richie walked up to Jon afterward and said, "Hi, I'm your new guitarist".

I don't there he was lipping on the This Left Feels Right dvd, the JBJ vox were VERY dicey at times on that, at times like a cat in heat.
But I still play and enjoy that dvd often and Sambora put on a goddam acoustic CLINIC. Two mesmerizing Spanish/Latin-style slide parts (one on Medicine and another can't recall what song exactly).

It's good, Dave....the Borgota intimate club atmosphere is great with fans sitting at like little night-club cocktail tables, band on stools and Sambora is absolutely terrific.

I got that too and have watched it a grand total of maybe 2 times. Sorry, but I guess I'm in the "don't mess with the original songs" camp. Well some of the songs were ok like Bad Medicine and a few others. Some of the changes to a couple of them were just horrendous IMO. I'd have to watch it again to tell you which ones. JBJ even admitted on Larry King, it wasn't one of their better moves.....said the fans didn't like it at all. LOL Red, did you play poker with the boys in the bonus features?

I know you are, as are all loons and heads.

JBJ and the fans may not have like it, I did.

I don't have the studio TLFR album itself, just the live dvd.

Agreed...Springsteen is an amazing performer...he engages the audience in a way I've never seen or heard anyone else do. I can understand people not liking his style or his vocals, but purely as a stage performer, I don't think anyone could compare to Bruce in 70's and 80's.

I saw BJ in 2000 and 2005. There were some sketchy moments in Jon's vocals in the '05 show, mostly because it was the 3rd night of the HAND tour, and because Jon isn't in his 20's anymore.

It wouldn't surprise me if he had some help on a few notes, either from a tape or one of the 3 extremely unnecessary 'extra' musicians they had onstage, but I really can't believe the whole thing was Augeri-fied. I'm pretty sure someone would've noticed if every show on that tour sounded exactly the same, since a lot more people collect and trade BJ boots than post-Perry Journey shows.

If you've got some evidence though, I'd love to hear it.

As for Richie...I think this rehab stint is the result of them going to Nashville and making a shit album. He was probably depressed over the divorce, so he was drinking...and somehow in his intoxicated state he said "sure, let's get Leanne Fucking Rimes" on a Bon Jovi album, which probably led him to drink even more.
