Hear, hear. Chase came to Journey, not the other way around.

People that DVR'd the show are gonna rewind the ending a few times looking for hints and clues as to what the ending really meant. Then they're gonna say "Man that song kicks ass." Then they'll either buy GH or download it off of Itines. I'm gonna watch Itunes this week. Bet it's one of the top downloads....again (World Series and The OC).

I don't get how some think this was a good ending either. That was not what the long time fans deserved, but......whateva.

I would have liked to seen more of Lorraine Braco/the psych. and where her and Tony kind of stood, and what was the deal with the suv catching on fire? all of it was anti-climatic. I can see how they would make a movie out of it for a real ending, but come on..they could have done better than that. :?

BTW, loved it that NOTHING HAPPENED at the end, the screen went blank!!
you think there gonna get whacked, but do they??? DSB is timeless classic, that will be downloaded a ton this week, maybe top five again??? My guess is that there will be more sopranos, movie, mini series etc.

It was perfect. If Tony got whacked, then you'd have people bitching about it.

If Tony flipped, then you'd have people bitching about it.

No matter what happened, a tidy ending would have pissed a large number of people off.

Phil got whacked. Tony and his crew made peace with NY. Life goes on. It was like the audience got whacked. We've been with Tony for 8 years, then, BOOM. It's over. Perfect.

Yeah. Seinfeld was pretty freakin' bad.

I'm kind of down the middle on the Sopranos. On one hand, no it wasn't great but... everyone expected people to get whacked and they gave you all these clues to impending doom, the suspicious characters lurking aroudn the diner and Meadow running across the street... and then they went the other way and did not do the "expected".

Plus, who the hell would expect that Tony Soprano was a Journey fan? I wouldn't. LOL!
That was your big reveal. After 9 years, the shocking truth comes out. Tony Soprano is a Loon.

I wasn't at all expecting a "tidy" ending, but the hour was filled with irrelevant crap and then nothing at all happened! The 2nd to the last episode was supposed to be the last one -- that would have been a better end than what we got. You watch intently for an hour waiting for something to happen and it never does. There was absolutely no point in watching it lastnight.

Do you think there might have been a lot of symbolism going on? I bet its going to be revealed that each scene meant something deep.
The scene where he's standing at the door looking at the old man in the rest home/psych ward whatever....and the guy behind him keeps saying 'excuse me, excuse me, excuse me' ..did they really need 2 whole minutes for that and then they old guy not remembering him.

Meadow trying to double park, could possibly mean she's leading a double life and struggling with it. I'm sure the college english professors are having a field day with dissecting this today. 8)

I was thinking the show might end with a big shoot out and everyone dead. I like this ending, it leaves you in suspense, and leaves the door open to possibly make a movie or possibly bring the show back later on.

Perfect ending to the PERFECT series!
As usual, David Chase left us thinking...
The Sopranos has ALWAYS left us thinking and this was no different.

The fact that they ended with a Journey song in one
of the most intense, edge-of-your-seat scenes in the
history of the show is just a bonus.

Did anyone else get a little teary-eyed when DSB started playing???
Incredible!

BTW, how many of you caught 'who' the 2 other restraunt patrons were?
The old truck driver was the brother of a guy Chris whakked in season 2...
The guy that went to the bathroom was Philly Phil's nephew...
Talk about tension!!!
It left you knowing that life will go on for Tony but
he will always be looking over his shoulder...
Excellent ending, IMO.

I agree, Niggy, perfect ending, they never tie up loose ends on this show so why would the last show be any different.

Chase teased us with death, which we all expected, throughout the entire show. When the family met for dinner at the cozy restaurant, I tryly expected them to all be 'wacked' together. My heart was racing with all the suspicious looking characters coming in the door or seated near by, the eye contact between Tony & those characters, Meadow having trouble parking with her tires screaching, the ring of the doorbell - and then he left us to our own imaginations as to what Tony was looking at in the final scene.

Then he had me laughing my arse off when Tony said to Uncle Junior, "You & my dad, you ran North Jersey" and Uncle Junior says, "We did? That's nice". And also when Leotardo says to his grandkids in the backseat "wave bye bye" right before he gets a shot to the head..and then carunnchh!

This finale will go down in history as being one of the most watched ones and it ends with a classic Journey song - congrats to our guys!

BADA BING!

I liked the ending. Great series. No way to please everyone. Chase did it on his own terms. Very cool that is open ended if they want to do a movie or something down the line.

The last 4-5 minutes were so fucking intense. Gotta watch it again tonite.

Check out the credits. The guy who walked past the family at the diner was Phil Leotardo's nephew.

Almost skipped over this thread 'cuz I don't watch the Sopranos - but, I think it's pretty neat that DSB was played at the end. There's probably a message in there for the Soprano fans I'm guessing. That song just sneaks in everywhere doesn't it? :)

The best scene...like last week scene when the crowd sees that the car is without a driver; a man has been shot in the head and the car is going to run over his head! The crowd gasps just like last week when they shot at the two guys in the car...it was sickening hilarious! A couple of people even vomit watching the car roll over his head...and last week there were the topless dancers outside watching the gunfire! OMG! Not omly is this hideous to watch but you can't stop yourself from watching cause you know it is gross!

NealIsGod wrote:Journey hit the lottery. Imagine how many bands would have killed to have one of their songs played at the end of the Final episode of The Sopranos. Almost the entire song played while millions and millions of people were glued to their sets waiting to see if the family got whacked. Lots of tension in that final 4 minutes.

Congrats, Journey! I am sure lots of people will search out that and other Journey songs this week.
Now, let's discuss the ending...

I think Tony got whacked. Since the entire show is based on Tony, it makes sense that when he looked up at the end, he got whacked, hence the unnatural pause and black screen before the credits. Remember the beginning of the show? A flashback to Tony and Bobby in the boat, and Tony said "You never see it coming."

But the way it ended leaves you to draw your own conclusions. I like that. I know a lot of people are pissed, tho. What does everyone else think?

Great idear! I don't know what to think...but I LOVED IT. Everyone wants a nice clean bloody ending. Too bad!
