no Rick, it's just a bunch of wild speculation from a few of people here, and you know, if it's told enough, people begin to believe it. I like jeremy and his voice is great, but I want him to be sane for the rest of his life.

JOURNEY ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF JEFF SCOTT SOTO

June 12, 2007 -- Journey has parted ways with their recently named lead singer Jeff Scott Soto. Jeff’s first appearance with Journey was July 7, 2006 in Bristow, VA. He had been filling in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the tour shortly after it began on June 23 due to illness. Jeff’s last performance was May 12, 2007 in Leesburg, VA.

According to guitarist Neal Schon, “We appreciate all of Jeff’s hard work and we can’t thank him enough for stepping in when Steve Augeri got sick last year. He did a tremendous job for us and we wish him the best. We’ve just decided to go our separate ways, no pun intended. We’re plotting our next move now."

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain continues, “We were lucky to have a friend who was already a Journey fan step in on a moment’s notice during the Def Leppard tour to help us out. Jeff was always the consummate professional and we hope that he remains a friend of the band in the future. We just felt it was time to go in a different direction.”

Journey--Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Jonathan Cain (keyboards) and Deen Castronovo (drums)—is taking the rest of 2007 off to spend time with their families, write new songs and map out plans for 2008.

Good for them. They can create what they want and circle jerk themselves off for all I care. What they did was wrong. Knowing Neal, they probably hired that rocker chick that was kicked off of American Idol.

Jeff fronting Queen would be beyond amazing, I'd love to see that more than seeing him front Journey (who now never deserved Jeff) anyhow.

Hey guy's,
I read an earlier post and replied, but it dissapeared? I can tell you as Frontiers ex-keyboardist, that there's no "smoking gun" as far as Jeremey's concerned. Someone posted about the fact that the bands gigs have been slowing down, but I can assure you that it's because Jeremey's wife Sabrina is pregnant, and he's preparing for fatherhood! Also, for those of you that don't know, Mike (Frontiers drummer) is going through a personal tragedy with his Step-Daughter. She was involved in a serious car wreck, and was mistakenly pronounced brain dead. This is why they have cancelled a few of there shows. Please pray for her to make a full recovery, as she needs all the help she can get right now!!!
Obviously. I can't speak for Jeremey, but there's no "smoking gun" concerning the band's schedule. Thanks.

I don't think for a minute Steve Perry is coming back. I'm saying he's the only singer that could save their sorry asses. They had a chance of relevancy with Jeff, a chance of success outside of Perry's shadow. There was no chance of a "Perry clone" with Jeff at the helm. They've really blown it.

Not 100% sure yet but peruse the threads and you'll get a general idea. At this point though, it appears as though Jeff got screwed bigtime.

Don't know, what a mess. Again, Journey handles their business affairs with zero class.

I'm really pissed and disappointed that there are no studio recordings of Journey with JSS....

Nothing to show for Jeff's hard work and effort.. way to make a dude wake up from his dream, guys..

I think Deen should leave the band and go join a newer, more promising one... he's way too good to be saddled up with Neal and Jon...

I've been going backwards & reading & that seems to be what happened. Honestly, I thought this lineup would be the last (or maybe it is?) & be what they needed to get the fire back. I can't imagine who would come in as singer now.

Hey Tammy,
Yeah she's still hanging in there! I got a email from Jeremey last night, and she's showed some response in her pupils, as well as pinch tests. Keep up the prayers!!!

Everbody...

Life is tough sometimes. Dreams die. Heros fail.

Times CHANGE.

It's time to let this thing called Journey "go".

Let it die.

In all reality, the band has not existed since the TBF fiasco...and even then...it had probably gone on too long. SP and SS seem to be the only two people on this planet that can see that.

I wish the best for JSS. He didn't deserve this. However, perhaps things are better this way.

Out.

I have this to say...

I feel priveleged to have had the chance to see Jeff perform with Journey last summer.
I wasn't sure what to expect, as I'd gone very early in the tour, just after he took over.
But it was great, he was great, and Journey is stupid for letting him go. :x

We all know they're pretty good about fucking the singers over, but isn't this getting just a bit ridiculous?

Well, I guess if there's one bright spot in this, it could be that they did it BEFORE they destroyed his voice!!! Jeff's got too much talent (and a new fanbase) to let this hurt him for long. And the fans will come out for him, not the 'California Raisins' as my friend Kim called them...

ROFL!!!! That's brilliant. If no one tackles it, I will, but ....

In the meantime, though, I have for you all a sneak preview of Journey's next product endorsement...
They've even named them in honor of all the singers that got fucked....

A note to Jeff if you are reading....
I'm very sorry that this did not work out for you! I saw you in July in Chicago, and I thought you did an outstanding job! I was really excited about your permanent role in Journey. The one good thing that has come out of this is that you have gained many new fans--myself included. I'm looking forward to hearing your terrific voice for many years to come!

I agree very much with both of these statements. JSS has won me over as a fan.

Deano we need you know we need the truth too be told about all this shit Journey has put many fans through. I can t help but think of how excited everyone was in Feburary when Journey made the Florida trip and many fans spent big $$$$ to travel too FlA in tourist season. Everyone was Jacked up at the band making a huge comeback with JSS at the helm. But we are all fucked right know and they are going too watch their fan base disappear.

Wow, you guys are way over reacting to this in my opinion. You act like JSS was a long time member. The guy hasn't even been in the band for even a year. He hasn't even recorded one song with the guys.

I have been thru it this past year as my two favorite bands lost key original members. Night Ranger kicked out Jeff Watson. And Michael Sadler the lead singer of Saga left. Many others.....Jimi Jamison left Survivor. Andy Taylor left Duran Duran. Should I go on? You guys are going nuts over a guy who has been with Journey for a few months.

My guess it will be one of the Steve's. If not I can not say I care, but to me JSS was just a temporary replacement singer anyways. Are you guys Journey fans or JSS fans?????

Yeah, THAT'S THE POINT. That is WHY it's generating such a reaction.

In December, this was the official statement:

"Over the past few months, we’ve come to realize that Jeff has proven himself above and beyond that he can sing the hell out of our songs and we’re happy to officially welcome him as part of the family. We’re excited to start a new chapter with Jeff and we’re excited about what the future may bring.”

So of course people are going to react strongly.
